Forums - Gaming Discussion - How the heck did Sony manage to retake the console market again?

The PS3 took a late lead due to Japanese games, especially in Europe where the 360 did not stand a chance.

And in the current generation in addition to that the X1 chip is a complete design failure. It is based on the same architecture as the PS4 but it is more expensive due to the RAM but also much slower. This is why the X1 cannot compete at all, it is an inferior product.

2 Things.

Great Hardware where developers can create games with ease.

Amazing, multi genre filled titles.

Mostly just the other two companies fucking up.

Microsoft managed to release a console that was weaker and $100 more expensive. Almost anything would win against that.

Because Microsoft and Nintendo fucked up so badly (Microsoft with their whole Xbox One reveal and Nintendo with the Wii U in general) this gen to the point where all Sony had to do was not take a shit in their hand and throw it at the crowd to be considered better by some at the start, which we saw with their whole E3 2013 "We'll let you play used games cause we're the good guys we're #4ThePlayers!!1!" thing they tried to do.

Better pricing, better PR, and the X1 had horrible PR initially and the Wii U... it did bad all around. Thats why

So, why did the 360 lose to a console that seemed weaker in the beginning, due to multiplats not being on par, and was $200 more expensive for 3 years?

I don't think it's really that the others screwed up. The others weren't doing anything other than what was expected. Sony goes above and beyond. They never limit themselves and none their ventures have ever aimed to overshadow their core consolewhich they've remained true to for over twenty years. Microsoft doesn't have the world draw that Sony has and never has.

Microsoft is outselling the 360 with the one. Microsofts offerings don't put them in contention as a world brand. Only Sony and Nintendo have been able to accomplish this. Sony set the standard though.

Sony owns the ips insomniac made for them (hence why they left). They wanted one to themselves. Microsoft was just a publisher. The franchise could go anywhere at anytime. They we're third party for Microsoft.

Yeah, we all know why Insomniac chose MS over Sony for Sunset. That doesn't change anything I said. Insomniac was still a great 2nd party partner for Microsoft.

Actually insomniac is not a Microsoft second party. microsoft was merely second choice because Sony wanted the ip. Insomniac can do whatever they want with sunset overdrive. If ms wants a sequel they would have to ask them. They are still making Spider-Man for Sony and released ratchet and clank. In conclusion, Microsoft got a taste of what Sony has been used to for generations now because they got greedy and in truth it's a breath of fresh air on the ms platform.

MS and Nintendos mistakes.
