Actual gameplay. This is why I can't trust PD until I have the game in my hands any more. I mean it looks... ok I guess? Like a typical sim racer. Certainly nothing there graphics or sound wise that would represent such a long development time. Watching other gameplay vids of online races, seems the same bumper car physics are back. Wtf has PD been doing? Guess I'm out on sim racers until PS5/Xbone 2. Unless Codemasters makes one, I guess.

It looks a lot better than the ps3 version. Expectation rise faster than the HW can keep up nowadays.

What exactly is the altenative to bumper physics? The point is not to hit other people, yet also not make it a race ending event, hence the penalty system. Although dunno if they fixed the penalties to be work better. Yet I don't want my race to be over or severely crippled after hitting a wall once. GT5 had the permanent damage option, no fun. Bit of carnage at the start of the race and that's it, half the people quit out.

wouldn't be a Gran Turismo thread without talking about Forza would it

although i get why :)

Doesn't look that great tbh. Like others have said, even Drive Club looks better. This looks PS3 level in my eyes. The lighting seems a bit flat as do the textures. Looks good, but I've seen better.

I'm in the beta and it's definitely isn't "PS3 level".

Oh, well that's good then. Nothing to get too offended about, just what I thought about it. But if the beta shows different, that's great.

Does it really? DriveClub looks amazing in the rain, yet it doesn't do bright sunny days all that well imo.
I like the lighting in GT Sport better

I just recorded that on ps4 pro (it doesn't have a pro patch but 1080p capture) Clear weather, noon, I kinda prefer the sun bleached look of GT Sport but you can still see the carboard trees in the background in GT in 3rd person driving.

I guess different strokes. I don't like the sunbleached lighting as it kind of cheapens the fidelity of the texturses. Drive Club's color range just looks much more dynamic. I mean, both look great but for me Drive Club edges it out just a bit. My eyes just respond to it better.

Gran Turismo Sport is not something that could run on the PS3. And it is 60fps while Driveclub is 30fps. It also has HDR that Driveclub doesn't and that adds much more to the graphics.

Also Gran Turismo has way better gameplay than Driveclub.

I don't know how it might having 4-5 hundred cars eventually puts GT Sport in good light, GT6 had over 500 premium cars and they where able to add over 150 new premium cars.  The gap between GT6 and GT Sports is going to be greater then the gap between GT5 and GT6 and the game will launch with only 140 cars.  Forza Motorsports 5 got slammed hard for only launching with 200 cars but that game took less then two years to develop.  GT Sport will take more then three years to develop and will only launch with 140 cars.

I cant remember where i know this from, but according to Kaz the game was suppose to come out in 2015 or 16, but they had to scrap almost the entire engine except for the physic engine and build around it, and also the deals with FIA super license and some vision Gran Turismo Cars made the development slow. Although I agree its unacceptable that sony allows Kaz to take so much time  to delivere a game, while they close down Driveclub Studio for atleast launching a game, albeit broken but still sold really well. I think if GTSport underperforms sales wise, sony will have to take some harsh decision regarding the future of the series and the studio. Kaz is the last Ken in that Sony stable.

GT as a franchise sold so many copies that one game underperforming wouldn't get PD or Kaz in much trouble.  If two or three games in  a row would seriously underperform might be in a bit of trouble though.  Evolution Studios on the other hand never had a solid sales record so with the issues at launch it was a pretty easy decision for Sony to drop them even though most of the problems where fixed eventually and they delivered a lot of DLC for Driveclub.
