A PS4 Pro would be nice. I sold my PS4 and was planning to get a Pro, but now that I've heard about this, I'll wait. I have a PC backlog to get through (mainly Trails in the Sky SC)

PS4 Super Slim for 199$. Sony arnt messing around this gen. I think they ll do a slim version of the PS4pro too though. |
I don't think we are going to see a PS4 SS. I think the only reason we saw one with the PS3 was the Cell processor wasn't very cheap, and near the end they had hit a point to where they couldn't make it for any cheaper. So, the only way they could get the price down any more was by making the system the most barebones they could. The PS4 isn't going to see the same problem, as its chipset is more off the shelf and can be drastically reduced in price near the end. I think we may see a $149 PS4 at the very end, a price the PS3 never got to.

The last ARM conference stated that mobile chips will be at PS4 graphics levels by the end of 2017. The Nintendo Switch will destroy Sony in Japan. Sony's answer will be a portable PS4 similar to the Switch. It will be known as the Sony Swap. Yes, I just made most of that up. |
I honestly wouldn't mind it, but I'd be scared to see it do bad like the Vita :
I love handhelds from both companies though, so I never want them to fail.
I wonder if this is how the yearly revisions start
Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

199$ PS4 super slim bundled with God of War or Gran Turismo.
Holidays on lockdown.

I'd even bet on a deal with Crash Bandicoot as a pack in with a 199 super slim. Now that along with God of War would be insane.
I wouldn't be surprised by thinner revisions for the ps4 in the next year or two, but Digitimes is not a reliable source for gaming rumors.
Though I would totally be down for a Playstation 4 Switch :)
EricHiggin said: With the current 16nm tech in PS4 and Pro, the only ways they could make the console thinner without it sounding like an airport again is to either change the shell design (which they obviously don't want to do considering Pro follows similar design characteristics) or take out the optical drive and make it a digital only sku. With all the success PS4 is having, now is a smart time to try it and see what happens. With PS Now, soon to offer PS4 games as well, it would be a great way to get a feel for if this approach will work, and if so, what type and how many PS5 sku's will they need going forward? |
I completely agree with this. If Sony is not looking at all of these possabilities right now with the success of the PS4, PSN, and the PlayStation Store, then someone should be fired.
I really hope that a PS4 Phone is coming. They should have the down below 40Watts now, which is still much to high for a Phone, but with some compenent swaps, it may just be possible. Having a PS4 Phone in Japan should be golden. Sony and Nintendo have handed the mobile market to Apple in Japan, and people have to be disappointed. Hopefully, a PS4 Phone, and a Switch Phone, can change things over the next few years. Then I can be free from ever needing an iOS or Android device again.
