Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 announced for 3DS

Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 is heading to 3DS, Atlus announced today. The news was just shared during the Atlus New Title Announcement Special Spring 2017 event.

Buyers will receive a two-disc user’s best album featuring player favorite songs from the Etrian Odyssey series when they pick up a first-print copy of the game. Atlus will allow fans to vote on the tracks until April 9. Yuuji Himukai designed the jacket that houses the CDs.

Also, an Etrian Odyssey 10th Anniversary Box limited edition will be sold for 9,800 yen. It’ll come with a copy of the game, special-make box, and 200-page Character Art Works book.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 launches on August 31 in Japan for 6,480 yen. Access the official website here and watch the first trailer below.

Surprised it's not 3DS/Switch. Are we going to see many titles remain 3DS only until the Switch has a bigger fanbase?

Why not 3DS/Switch? This is the only Etrian Odyssey game that doesn't need active touch capabilities (drawing the maps and all).

Atlus apparently isn't fully on the Switch train. They showed off 3 new 3DS games and showed ~2 seconds of the SMT title they announced months back.

No surprise that third parties aren't going to make the transition right away. The DS sold over 30m units in Japan, yet the 3DS still had to earn third parties' trust. The good thing about Switch is that Nintendo is acting according to what third parties do, not what they say.

Nippon Ichi USA's partnership with Atlus has ended last year and as far as I know nothing new has been announced from Atlus' side, so how and by whom their 3DS games are brought over to America and Europe is still up in the air.

That would be very unreasonable. PS2 was still getting games 2-3 years into PS3's lifecycle. The newer platforms would usually get versions of the game at least.

Atlus is one of those companies that is super slow to moving though. Persona 4 was somehow put on PS2 in December of 2008.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon is the only Etrian Odyssey title whose first print run actually dropped in price where I live. So, who asked for this?
