Nintendo aiming for 20 million Switch units shipped in year one

Nintendo estimates shipments of the Switch in its first year at 20 million units, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers, adding that they have a conservative estimate of shipping at least 10 million units in the first year.

Nintendo released the Switch in March 2017 and the game console enjoyed over one million units of sales in the first week after the release. Nintendo president Kimishima Tatsumi also recently said that he expects Switch's overall sales to reach 110 million units.

Switch's manufacturing is handled by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Japan-based Misumi Electronics and Hosiden with Foxconn supplying over 50% of the volume. Foxconn makes the device at its plants in Shandong, China.

Taiwan-based IT players including Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE), Jentech, Delta Electronics, Nanya PCB and Foxlink are component suppliers of the Switch.

That total sales number is bold. B.O.L.D.

Don't believe it, it is going to be way higher to credible sources:

Doesn't sound like this is an estimate or projection directly from Nintendo. Their conservative estimate being 10m less sounds like too big of a range as well.

Regardless, if this number is close to what Nintendo actually believes, there must be some big announcements on the way around E3. Pokemon Stars and Monster Hunter port big

I really don't think Nintendo would raise expectations too absurdly high for fear of disappointing shareholders when the results should, in reality, please them greatly. They're undoubtedly hoping for amazing results internally, but they'd never predict as much after the Wii U.

At least, I HOPE they haven't gotten unjustifiably confident after, what, a good month? Don't turn a victory into a letdown by raising that bar too high until you know you've got legs imo

These reports are getting way out of hand XD

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

How many different Pachter looking reports do we have each week?

This is either inaccurate, or Nintendo is as dumb as everybody feared.

They just had a massive block with their last Home console. Their most recent handheld never got anywhere near that number in a year. There is simply no realistic chance of the switch moving 20 million units in the first year. They do not have the games lineup to do that. Frankly, I'd be amazed if they could move 10 million.
