Forums - Gaming Discussion - Splatoon 2 Testfire runs at 530p undocked and 720p when docked

530p. That's suspiciously close to 540p. Which is Vita's screen resolution.

Vita port confirmed!

2017 will be the year of the Vita

I'm curious if the images of Splatoon 2 are simply screenshots using the Switch itself, as I noticed when taking them in BotW that they lose resolution in the process. Was actually rather disappointed by that, but it could explain why it looks worse there than I've seen anywhere else.

I made that point earlier, Switch screenshots look usually more pixelated for whatever reason, so this could be actually just that. Honestly that would make this whole thread quite hilarious if true.

'the only people who are complaining are those with no interest in the game and Nintendo anyway'

argument is back in full force I see. Hate to tell you but you can still be a Nintendo fan while criticising them

@bolded: So according to you you say you can still be a Nintendo fan while criticising them, but if someone doesn't immediately criticise Nintendo for something we don't know about yet and doubts it or questions it you wanna immediately call them a 'defence force' like you did earlier in this thread?

Well, they do.  It's one of the big things they talk about before the console is announced.  "It's going to be about as powerful as the PS4" and "can't wait to play Nintendo games that look that good."  Then, once Nintendo reveals another underpowered console it's "graphics don't matter anymore" and "I'll buy whatever Nintendo gives me, even if it's slightly above what I have, now, only portable."  Wash, rinse, repeat.

BOTW 97.

Don't remind me of that god awful score.  Now, if it had gotten a 98, I'd be interested in it.

People dont need to be so dramatic, MK8 Deluxe runs at 720/60fps in portable mode and 1080p/60fps in docked mode, Splatoon 2 is months away from release, I really don't see that final version of Splatoon 2 will run in portable mode at lower resolution than Wii U, and I definitely see that in Dock mode runs at higher resolution than 720p.

The problem here is that this shots are lying, i have a 4k tv 65'', i play the game on dock mode, because thats the way i play my NS 99% of the time, and the game looks graphically better, no lag 60 fps all time, and superior to splatoon 1 on the WiiU,  no way it was below 720 p just for one second, and it is a beta so it will be improved a lot graphically from this time to the released day, this thread is trolling i can't think on any other explanation.

34 years playing games.

Did you forget Mario Kart 8, one of the most demanding games on WiiU, is here running at 1080p when on WiiU was 720p? Same with Fast Racing Nero, which was burning the wiiu hardware and still was sub 720p while here is 1080p

MK8 wasn't particularly demanding. That's why it was able to stick to 720p/60fps even in 2 player split screen; a significant enough amount of the WiiU's power goes unused in solo play that it can render 2 versions of the tracks, effects, animations, physics, etc, and still hit that target. It's not until it's asked to do it all 4 times that it drops to 30fps.

That's not a criticism, MK8 is that way by design. Just thought it should be noted.

Regardless, you'd think the docked Switch would be hitting 1080p with all 720p WiiU titles. The jump between 720p and 1080p is 125%, which is within the range of the Switch's hardware jump. Either Nintendo have been rushing their games to keep up momentum (which is arguably justified, Nintendo were in a difficult situation and needed to get the Switch out as soon as possible), or there's an unknown (to us) bottle neck stopping them with some titles.

The resolution is not the problem on Nintendo games, it's the lack of anti aliasing. They could easily bump the resolution, remember this was a stress test. The aliasing is going to stay there, sadly.

Its already confirmed that they are Switch screenshots, which are notoriously poor, but no one seems to care.
