You speak as if republicans have already given up.

We are only a few months into the Trump administration. There is still time to go a different route.

They had all of Obama's legislation to come up with something better. I won't hold my breath for them achieving something in 3 years that they couldn't in 7.

You speak as if all the republicans were working together for the perfect alternative. Quite frankly, there may not be one. Atleast nothing that will please everybody.

All that is certain is Obamacare is shit and something needs to happen.

All that is certain is Obamacare is shit and something needs to happen.

All that matters is that Obamacare is better than the nothing that existed before. People should strive to fix the bad parts and not just abolish everything and come up with something completely new.

So what did the republicans do the past 7 years? Why didn't they work together on a solution? Why didn't they work together on the current shitty bill? Too busy trying to repeal something they have no proper replacement for?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Just let old people die. And people who aren't making 100k or more a year, the poors don't really want health care anyway. Problem solved Republicans.

Well... depends who you ask. Didn't work out great for everybody.

I'm not making excuses for republicans, its obvious they need to continue negotiating which is arguably for the best.

Eitherway, I assure you this is not the end. I think we'll see a lot of compromise as opposed to sticking with Obamacare.

Going after this bill was ridiculous anyway. It's the republicans and the Trump administration still chasing after the shadow of Obama instead of trying to move forward. He ran a platform of trying to demonize him and undo everything he did, and now the ashes are settling on his disastrous first 100 days and exposing him, big time. You're not invincible, Donnie. It's time to act like a president now instead of a blowhard CEO.

I hope that stupid FCC proposal is shot down next.

Ridiculous? Obama care is ridiculous as well. The problem here was that they were trying to replace a shitty system with an equally shitty one.

More shitty since it was in favor of the fat cat companies and a lot less people would have been covered. They thought they could sell it to the public by showing it didn't take as many pages to draft as the ACA, which is honestly one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen in a press conference... ever.

I hope you realise that Obamacare is in part so bad because they had to forcibly compromise on it. Proper healthcare is all in or nothing. The original bill was gutted by Republicans until it no longer was effective enough.

Unless they make every single person in the country pay for nationwide healthcare via taxes it will always be shitty. But we both know Republicans do not have the balls to do that.

Obamacare has some very negative side effects for younger people (who better pay the penalty instead of buying an insurance, so they are forced to pay and get nothing in return) and small businesses (who cannot afford to grow and employ people because they cannot afford to pay for Obamacare), I recommend to watch the Sanders vs. Cruz debate to understand the problem. You cannot really compare it to health insurances of other western counties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTVjCc-o6vw

Trumpcare never had a chance, it was too close to Obamacare for many establishment republicans to support it. But it could have fixed some major problems and introduce competition to the Obamacare monopoly game. Obamacare is not able to survive in it's current form and especially the Democrats should have an interest to prevent it from total collapse. What is a mandatory health insurance worth if you cannot pay the bills and are better off with paying the penalty for nothing in return - what a stupid system?

In my opinion Democrats and Republicans need to come together to find a solution that is best for the American people. Trumpcare would fit much more to Democratic ideals and together with moderate republicans they would have a majority in both houses. But for strategic reasons this will never happen. So for now people have to stick with Obamacare, the worst, most ineffective and most expensive health insurance of the world, where millions of people are uninsured but have to pay for nothing and where insurance companies can play monopoly and increase prices every year.

this excuse for obamacare is not valid.  It passed without a single republican vote.  They had no say in what was in it.

I am Iron Man

Trump is doing exactly what we expected of him.

The level of incompetence of this government is staggering.

Granted they nominate a real candidate this time, the democrats have already won the next election

Considering the democrats have nominated Mondale, Dukakis and John Kerry and lost against Trump..

I would not call 2020 a lock yet.
