Forums - Gaming Discussion - GameStop expects Switch supply issues to last all year

That's a little disheartening. I'm going on a trip in a few months and had hoped to get one before that.

Both good and bad news for Nintendo. The demand is there but they aren't capitalizing on it.

(They also say VR devices are having issues too)

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

I would say that too if I wanted people to run out and buy my products in overpriced bundles.

Business as usual, then.

they really need to expand the userbase rather than keep demand up

hopefully it's not actually the case

Doubt it, will generally catch up to demand in June, July, August even accounting for Splatoon I think

The article provides a number for the Switch tie ratio for Gamestop's business. Unfortunately, it combines games and accessories, but 5.5 is a big number.

As for supply issues, how bad this is going to be for Nintendo depends on how much they can produce. If they can't meet demand by putting out 12-15m units in calendar year 2017, then that would be a good problem to have. This is very different compared to VR where we know that supply is heavily limited.

The demand for VR is heavily limited as well. When Mario Kart deluxe arrives, demand for the Switch will surge.

Sales prediction, PS4: 122 Million, Xbox one: 50 million, Switch: 105 million.

This shortage was the reason why I woke up early to get my system on launch day. I knew the system was going to be too successful for its own good.

Nintendo must be happy with this problem with shortages. Also Zelda i almost 1:1 with hardware. Who is the weirdo who bought a switch without Zelda? Well atleast it shows that this zelda is a system seller.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Nintendo cannot be happy about this. They loose money every single day. Many parents will buy a cheaper PS4 if they cannot get a Switch in time.

Only scalpers are happy. The Switch could end like the NES classic, which is still impossible to buy for less than double the MSRP in Europe. Even serious large vendors charge the double price and they should face consequences.

I certainly hope they don't last all year because I'm going to want to buy one in the near future.
