Both games while not perfect isn't an embarrassment to their franchise, Hotel Mario though is an embarrassment .
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Final Fantasy XV was never an embarrassment for the Final Fantasy franchise imo.
Andromeda.
FFXV - bad Final Fantasy, but quite good game (7/10). Andromeda - bad Mass Effect and game (4/10).
it's a tie.
Andromeda
FFXV is still quite good and I am waiting for a port to PC.
The only people who consider FFXV an outright embarrassment are turn-based crybabies who can't handle combat. It didn't shake the industry, but it's a good game.
Andromeda... I dunno. I've never been a fan of Mass Effect.

RolStoppable said: Personally, I think the biggest embarrassment is that these IPs were still held in high regard right up until the release of their latest installments. I mean, last generation Final Fantasy got mocked for its XIII series as well as the catastrophic launch of XIV while Mass Effect went through a shitstorm because the third game's ending contradicted the entire premise of the series. |
This shouldn't be surprising.
Do you know anyone who supports a sports team that used to win things all the time in the olden days, but hasn't won anything for 10 or 20 years?
Every year, just before the season starts, they say "this is going to be our year! This is going to be the years when we regain our rightful place at the top! No more disappointments!". In the same way, a lot of video game fans say "ok, the last installment was a disappointment, but this one is going to be great! It spent so much time in development!". Of course, the next installment is rarely as good as they think it will be.
Of course, they're always disappointed, but that doesn't change their mentality.
A lot of video game fans behave like sports fans, and eternal optimism followed by inevitable disappointment is yet another example of this.
