Yeah, Fire Emblem is totally a handheld franchise

Makes sense.

Isn't that kinda like calling the Crash Bandicoot remastered collection a "third party multiplatform series becoming platform exclusive"? (assuming it only gets put out on PS4)

to be fair it has been handheld exclusive for a decade which includes the last 5 games

Ehh, I'm going to go with a hard no on calling that a "handheld exclusive". That is, unless you want to argue that Mario Odyssey is also the return of a handheld franchise, considering the last 3D Mario game to appear on a home console was in 2009, and the last 2 3D Mario games have been handheld titles.

hmm??? the last 3D Mario game was on a home console

also, there was no 3D Mario game released in 2009 so i dont think you know what youre talking about

Yeah, I done goofed on this one. Sorry about that. For some odd reason I thought 3D world was a 3DS game. My bad.

haha no worries

as for Fire Emblem, i can see it both ways it started out on and has had many entries on home consoles but on the other hand the last 5 titles and the last decade has seen it exclusively on handhelds.

All my point was, was that Fire Emblem isn't necessarily indicative that all handheld franchises are coming to the Switch.

Let me put it to you this way (thanks to my previous goof). Would it be sensible to think all home console franchises were coming to the 3DS because Super Mario 3D land was released on the 3DS and it had been a "home console exclusive" for the past 8 years?

A new Wars game? (people know it as Advance Wars but began as Famicom Wars)

Who said Fire Emblem was proof of all handheld franchises coming to Switch? Nobody, the OP used FE as an example of a handheld franchise he wants to come over and people pointed out that FE is already announced to be coming to Switch.

There's many posts here saying it's "obvious" that their "handheld IPs" will be coming to the Switch. It was in response to those poeple.

Next question, does this mean that we won't get "handheld like" (couldn't think of another way to word that) versions of games like Legend of Zelda. Breath of the Wild (almost worth the Switch purchase alone) is obviously amazing but I enjoyed the handheld Zelda games as well. What happens to the development teams that made the isometric view Zelda games and such? Do those teams switch to developing for mobile games?
