Media reports said the attacker was 'Asian'. I was picturing a Chinese guy with a knife.

The photos clearly show that this guy is Pakistani or something with an Islamic looking beard.

It's almost as if the media is trying to misdirect people. We really need to recognise that Islam is a problem for the west, and the more dedicated Muslims become and the more western countries continue to pursue an aggressive foreign policy in the middle east and THEN open their gates to these aggrieved extremists, the more this is going to happen.

The always do that now. Everyone knows it was a Muslim but they'll delay it as long as they can.

They know that everyone will hate on Muslims again for this because it happened every single time. They don't really want that to happen though because that just causes more problems.

They always try to protect them now.

Oh the poor Muslims might get their feelings hurt. I'm more concerned for the injured and the families of the dead right now.

The media and governments should be concerned with preventing further attacks. Not sparing the feelings of those with an affiliated ideology.

It's like after the Paris attacks, where the media were showing concern for the increase in 'islamophobia'. It's pretty clear to me that Islam is far more dangerous that Islamophobia ever will be.

Yeah, seeing Asian throws me off a bit since I'm Asian (Taiwanese descent). It would be better if the media differentiate West Asia and East Asia from each other, imo.

~Ignore me, I'm an alt!

What is the purpose of these people?

... You do realise Pakistan is in Asia, right?

So is Russia, but you wouldn't refer to a Russian as of 'Asian' appearance. Unless the Russian looked chinese of course.

It's clear misdirection.

The UK has a lot more South Asians than East Asians, so when they refer to Asians they usually mean South Asians, unlike here in North America where it generally refers to East Asians.

They use the word Asian instead of Middle-Eastern/Arabic to describe the perpetrator to mislead people.

Like in the wake of the Sydney siege, the hashtag IllRideWithHer was trending to show support to Muslims in Australia. The dust had not even settle yet and people were already casting protection on Muslims.

You would describe an Asian Russian as an Asian. Besides this guy looks more middle eastern than Pakistani. There is a difference to me he looks Egyptian but egyptians are not Asians so maybe Iraqi or Syrian. But Pakistan and Syria and others and Russia will all be described as Asian unless you are American of course because Americans have a stupid way of definining almost anything. (Face palm) But I hope this piece of filth wasn't Pakistani we don't need more bad rep. We are finally starting to get a hold on terrorism in our own country we don't need filth like these to belong to our country

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also
