Why arnt they played by asians?

Also if its just one movie? to fit all that into it... it better be a damn 3-4hour long one then.

Light is Asian but L is White. Not sure they cast a White and Black actor in the roles.

I have no idea what death note is, but this film looked decent

Hard to tell if it's going to be be good or bad based of this teaser, but hope for the best. Will give it a watch for sure when it releases.

Was surprised to see it's a movie and not a series. Maybe a series of movies would work. I hope they don't shoehorn the whole show into a single film though.

If they can fix the horrible ending of the anime, I'll probably enjoy it. It was a good show right up until that ending.

Because this is a adaptation for an american audience.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Their gonna butcher it arnt they? <.< this is like the Sookie stackhouse -> trueblood thing.

It often goes horribly wrong when american directors start ignoreing the orignal works.

good or not Willem Fucking Dafoe is the Ryuk

I only saw the Japanese live-action movies, but they weren't anything to get excited about. This may actually have some decent acting.

So, I just saw this older article about this:

http://www.polygon.com/2016/9/16/12941782/death-note-adam-wingard-netflix

"So, doing my first live-action anime thing, to me it was important that you have those adult themes," Wingard told Collider. "So, it’s got nudity, it’s got swearing, it’s got a ton of violence."

Yeah... This thing is going to be a trainwreck, made by someone who obviously didn't even read the source material, or didn't understand it.

The casting is irritating but the disaster setpiece shit is what really lost me and showed me where their head is at. At least Dafoe's performance should be entertaining. Still say he should be the next Joker.
