Forums - Movies & TV - The best underappreciated movie of all time.

Rushmore (Wes Anderson) is my favorite underrated movie. I really like it.

Honorable mention to Unbreakable with Bruce Willis. Really cool spin on a superhero movie.

This is one of the most underappreciated movies of all time, also my favorite movie of all time. Trust me, this is the definition of psychological thriller.

That is the most weirdly edited trailer I've ever seen. Is the rest of the movie that odd?

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, of course.

One of my favorite comedies of all time - Burn After Reading - seems to be underappreciated and has lots of haters at the same time for some reason. It has great actors - too many to name lol - but the trailer makes it look cheap and stupid..

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, as a whole is a fantastic and fun film, Shane Black's best IMO.  Tho Nice Guys is great as well.

Usually anything by Wes Anderson is an underappreciated gem.

Memento, a movie I personally consider Nolan's best (and the one that put him in the map) is so complete and fantastic that we use it as example of how plot structure in film class.

Ed Wood, I'd put it amongst Depp and Burton's best. Great acting, writing and directing, but no one thinks about this film because no one saw it.  Also, Martin Landau is amazing in it.

Kokuhaku (Confessions)

(sorry I couldn't find a better quality trailer)

One of the best films I've ever seen, and they never even released it in the US even though it got shortlisted for the foreign film oscar :(

The editing and cinematography in this film are incredible. Absolutely love every second of it.

indeed, this looks fantastic

A Japanese live action movie that seemed to have decent actors? going to watch it just for that alone based on the trailer.

Seriously, Japanase have good ideas for their movies, but the actors are so bad is almost unwatchable at times....they are like robots.

As for my pick, not sure if it's underrated since it was nominated for some Oscars (didn't won a single one sadly), Cidade de Deus (City of God in English), a brazilian movie which holy fuck is amazing, is the story of a favela.

Super cliche trailer, but it's the only one I found in English:

I watched this, love it

Akumu no Elevator (Elevator Trap).  The movie opens with four strangers who have become trapped in an elevator.  Each one has a peculiar personality and each one seemingly has something to hide about why they are in this particular elevator at this time of night.  Talking (and arguing) leads to the idea that perhaps they are in a trap intended to snare one of them.  But which one?

It's a dark comedy and a murder mystery with a lot of twists and unexpected turns.  I really had no idea what was going on.

thanks! my type of movie!!
