Yeah, #DumpKellogs and #DumpStarWars are two other examples of conservative boycotts. |
I hadn't heard of those two. What were they boycotting over?

It's not referring to race, it's referring to women. He mocked International Women's Day, people got upset and he criticised people for being upset (though he probably purposefully posted that to bait people). |
And yet the media painted him as racist. And that got retweeted, etc.. The damage is done.

Proof by Assertion. Considering you have frequently used this fallacy and so far, have not learned to not use it every time we have a discussion, my interest in continuing it is close to zero. |

it's a bit different to crack such a joke on international women's day, which is all about respect for women - it means he has none |
The joke only worked on that day because the hastag was trending. I'm sure you got that. Especially when he wrote that tweet with his girlfriend.

Kelloggs blacklisted Breitbart, so fans of that outlet got pissed and uploaded videos of them throwing Kelloggs cereal boxes in the trash or flushing the cereal down the toilet, lol.
Star Wars was even dumber. Rebel Media (namely Gavin McGinnes) attempted to start a boycott on Rogue One because the protagonist was female.

And what's wrong with women supporting that? Women are still being paid less than men, and they do much more housework than men, so it's fair that they should protest unequal treatment. |
The wage gap myth again? As for housework, are they forced to do that work?

No, no. We were talking about the earnings gap, not wage gap. When you're comparing women's studies majors to engineers, wages will always be substantially different.

This sums up my opinion on the situation. I really don't care for Colin although the fallout from a four word tweet was ludicrous. If the situation was reversed and there was "a day without men" and a woman tweeted "Finally, Peace and Quiet". No one would have given a damn.

One of your sources conflated pay with earnings when they are different from each other. Did you even proofread or did you just go on Google, pick the articles that looked good to you, and copy/pasted the links without double checking? This is why I'm not interested in continuing the discussion because of your lack of caution.

I don't think there's any arguing that women do more of their fair share of housework. My wife works much harder than me. She is awesome. I feel like I'm probably not alone in husbands thinking this of their wives.
As far as the wage gap goes, it seems far from settled. The 78 cents on the dollar is said to be a fallacy by some, including forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/karinagness/2016/04/12/dont-buy-into-the-gender-pay-gap-myth/#355896362596
I've seen studies both ways. I'm not saying one is true and the other isn't. But I've read a lot of well sourced articles (like the one above) who dispute this claim quite a bit.
Again - women are awesome. They deserve as much as men (if not more). I don't want to live in a world without women. But a joke as simple as the one he made having this reactions is...reaching.
