I swear I'm going to trademark "regressive left" and then proceed to ban everyone from using it. It's such a nondescriptive term it really gets on my nerves.

Non-descriptive in what sense? It goes part in parcel with horseshoe theory.

It refers to people to attempt to bully, silence and attack anyone they dislike. In doing so, people that observe or are victimized by these again develop, or increase their hatred against the causes they represent. In many ways this ends up creating a further divide between people, and actually puts the causes these groups support further from their goals. For what its worth, there's a "regressive right" as well.

That would be fine and dandy, except the horshoe theory makes no sense. The term "regressive left" is an easy label to stiffle any debate but is completely meaningless.

Nondescriptive? Surely you jest. I think you know exactly what the term means and who it refers to.

I'm not joking, it's just as empty and meaningless like terms like "cultural marxism".

Fun fact. The person who first coined the term Regressive Left is a Muslim.

Don't really care who coined it, it's meaningless nevertheless.

Oh, you mean like terms like "racist", "sexist", "misogynistic" which were all used by the media to stiffle conversation or debate? Like in Moriarty's case?

Far left: want a society where work is done I a cooperative, mutually beneficial way where everyone's needs are met.

Far right: want a racially pure society by committing genocide in order to rid the country of groups deemed inferior by them.

Tell me how those two are even remotely similar.

That's not what the far left means in today's world. Time to get practical instead of using textbook definitions.

That's not what you mean by it, but all you people do is stick terms like "regressive" on liberals and cal them far left. What do you know?

My beliefs are far left. I've never put my hand on someone else because of their political belIefs.

That doesn't mean you don't believe in using force. After all, how else can you possibly expect to "redistribute wealth" without forcing billionaires and millionaires to give away most of their money?

The state has the monopoly on violence. That's always the case, even in democracies. So it's quite easy, you raise taxes on them.

I'm not attacking him, heck, I don't even know him. Yes, racist, sexist and misogynistic are real terms with real meaning. I don't know how they were used in this case and if they were really applicable, but at least they have meaning and we can talk about them.

I know enough to see what the far left is doing is not progressive but regressive, hence the label. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it incorrect.

So, what does regressive mean to you in this case? I'm honestly curious.

Well, read on Moriarty's situation and we can debate whether the liberal media and personality calling him those was well-founded.
