I am still waiting for my 'rpg' of the generation... Hope I get to play it anytime soon, and no I don't know it's name yet.

NOT SquareEnix.

Nice to see CDProjekt getting some love in here!

I didn't mean aaaaall those platforms. Indeed that would just be insane. Just the current gen platforms I mean.

The xbox one has no RPGS that I'm aware of. The wii U has mirage sessions. Anything else?

There's also the 3DS and Vita line. They also have RPGS worth mentioning.

It's difficult to say at this point. I have several RPG's to play throughand the gen isn't over yet.

From what i played so far... i would give home interactive's spiders the top marks and bioware aswell as square enix the lowest. Because bound by flame was a pleasant surprise and FFXV and DA inquisition were games that broke the camel's back on their respective series for me.

But, i've still got loads to play. This is a very early impression.

Can't go with anything else than CD Projekt RED, since The Witcher 3 is the GOTG so far.

Still, I gotta say that praising them for the lore of the game is kinda undeserved. It's like praising a dev who makes a Lord of the Rings game for the lore. That credit goes to Andrzej Sapkowski and his outstanding books, which I recommend to everyone!

You're right about the lore bit. I have his books, I think that the English translation has caused them to lose some quality though, they're really heavy on exposition, to the point where it annoys me, and the character development is a little weak. But the political landscape and social commentary is brilliant, I especially like his portrayal of the struggle between religion and state and he has some really strong shows of racial and cultural issues as well.

The fights are well written in the books as well, when you hear the combat themes in the games, it really takes you back to those written fighting scenes.

I haven't seen the English translation, but I'd expect it to lose a chunk of its magic. It's the same with the games, while I always prefer to play (or watch movies) in English instead of Polish translations, I can't imagine the same thing with The Witcher. That unique Slavic vibe would be lost and the experience wouldn't be as rich, the jokes as tigh and punchy. Our languages, while much more difficult, give a skilled author more room to play with words and express himself than the English language.

What's also worth noting is that Sapkowski's books do not fall into the typical fantasy scheme of good vs evil. You know, basically every fantasy story follows the same general script - be it Eragon, LotR, Star Wars, etc. Not really the case here. Geralt isn't your typical medieval knight, coming to save the day.

Also, I'm gonna brag at bit Last month Sapkowski came to my office to sorf out his legal issue and became my client! I've been happy like crazy about it for a fair number of days

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Should've asked this question 2 weeks later, so that we can all say Atlus.

From Software's games have been amazing tho.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

CD Projekt RED. It has absolutely no competition right now.

I would say Nier Automata gives the witcher 3 a good run for its money.
