From the Mass Effect: Andromeda Site

Hi everyone,

It’s been two weeks since the launch of Mass Effect™: Andromeda and we’re thankful to the millions of you who have already joined us on this journey. And though the game is now in your hands, it’s really just the beginning.

Since launch, our team has been poring over your comments and feedback, looking to discover what you like about the game, as well as areas we can evolve or improve.

This Thursday, we’ll release a new patch that addresses technical fixes (crashes, improved performance), but also adds a number of improvements we’ve heard you ask for, such as:

Allowing you to skip ahead when travelling between planets in the galaxy map

Increasing the inventory limits

Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters

Decreasing the cost of Remnant decryption keys and making them more accessible at merchants

Improving localized voice over lip sync

Fixing Ryder’s movements when running in a zig zag pattern

Improving matchmaking and latency in multiplayer

There are many more adjustments being made, all of which you can find in our patch notes.

Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:

More options and variety in the character creator

Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters

Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations

Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder

Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams

These upcoming patches will also address performance and stability issues. And we’re looking at adding more cosmetic items to single player for free.

For multiplayer, over the same timeframe, we’re going to continue to build on the APEX missions that have been running since launch. We’ll be adding new maps, characters, and weapons. On Thursday, we kick off the first of three new chapters centered around The Remnant Investigation.

This is just a taste of what’s in store as we continue to support Mass Effect: Andromeda. And as always, you all play an important role in that. We want to hear from you about your experiences, both what you love about the game and what you’d like to see changed. We’re listening, and we’re committed to partnering with you as we continue to explore the Andromeda galaxy together.

Here’s to a great journey,

Aaryn

Mass Effect is a science fiction action role-playing third-person shooter video game series developed by BioWare. The original trilogy largely revolves around a soldier named Commander Shepard, whose mission is to save the galaxy from a race of powerful mechanical beings known as the Reapers and their agents, including the first game's antagonist Saren Arterius. The first game, released in 2007, sees Shepard investigating Saren, whom Shepard slowly comes to understand is operating under the guidance of Sovereign, a Reaper left behind in the Milky Way tens of thousands of years before, when the Reapers exterminated virtually all sentient organic life in the galaxy as part of a recurrent cycle of genocide for an unknown purpose. Sovereign's purpose is to trigger the imminent return of the Reaper fleet hibernating in extra-galactic dark space, restarting the process of extermination. The second game takes place two years later, and sees Shepard battling the Collectors, an alien race abducting entire human colonies in a plan to help the Reapers return to the Milky Way. The final game of Shepard's trilogy centers on the war being waged against the Reapers.

Mass Effect: Andromeda begins in 2185, between the events of the second and third games in the original trilogy. The four Citadel Council races are planning to populate new home worlds in the Andromeda Galaxy as part of a strategy called the Andromeda Initiative. Each race will send 20,000 citizens on a one-way, 600-year journey to Andromeda aboard their own transportation vessel, called an Ark, and selects a leader, known as a Pathfinder. Once the races arrive, they will help build the Nexus, a huge space station that serves as a center of government and diplomacy, a living area, as well as a base of operations for the Pathfinders.

Scott & Sara Ryder

Born on the Citadel space station in 2163. With informal training aided by Alec Ryder's N7 background.

Scott joined the Systems Alliance military and was assigned to an outpost near Arcturus Station overseeing Relay 202.

A primary route to Arcturus, this mass relay leads into contested space and has an unsavory reputation. Scott was needed to protect Arcturus, but also had "a front row seat to everyone else going off to fortune and glory."

...

Born on the Citadel space station in 2163. With informal training aided by Alec Ryder's N7 background. Sara joined the Systems Alliance military, which was continuing its search for Prothean technology after successful discoveries on Mars. Initially assigned to peacekeeping duties.

Sara was approached to serve a support role for these Prothean researchers. She often describes the thrill of serving with scientists like Mateus Silva on the brink of the next great discovery.

Cora Harper

Lieutenant Cora Harper is a human biotic and formerly an officer in the Systems Alliance military. She was transferred from the Citadel Council's Valkyrie Program (a subset of their interspecies military integration plan) and placed with the asari commando unit Talein's Daughters.

Cora's huntress training and biotic capability made her a candidate for Alec Ryder's second-in-command and, if warranted, his successor as Pathfinder.

Cora lends her voice to the Andromeda Initiative orientation briefing regarding the Pathfinder team.

Liam Kosta

Liam Kosta is a human security and response specialist with civilian tactical training.

Liam entered university for engineering but left to train for law enforcement and later transitioned to the multi-species effort of Heavy Urban Search and Crisis Response.

His multi-disciplinary skills set him apart, and Liam was hand-picked by Alec Ryder to support the Pathfinder team.

Liam lends his voice to the Andromeda Initiative orientation briefing regarding weapons and biotics.

Pelessaria 'Peebee' B'Sayle

Pelessaria B'Sayle, nicknamed Peebee, is an asari member of Ryder's squad. Hailing from Port Lerama, Hyetiana, Peebee grew bored of living in the Milky Way and joined the Andromeda Initiative.

A lone wolf and adventurer at heart, she originally came to Andromeda aboard the Nexus but quickly left and went adventuring on her own before encountering Ryder's team. Intelligent but socially blunt, she decides to join them simply as a means to finding out more about the galaxy's mysteries.

Vetry Nyx

Vetra Nyx is a member of Ryder's squad. She, along with Drack, can accompany the Pathfinder on a mission to the planet Kadara in order to obtain information from Sloane Kelly.

Vetra was born on Palaven and resided in too many places to count prior to enlisting with the Andromeda Initiative. She arrived in Andromeda via the Nexus. She is of the opinion that family ties are more important than venturing deeper into the galaxy.

Surviving the rough world of smugglers and mercenaries requires street-smarts, adaptability and cunning, qualities that serve Vetra well in Andromeda. Her experiences have taught her the importance of having someone to watch your back, and she’ll do anything for the people she considers friends and family.

Nakmor Drack

Nakmor Drack is a member of Ryder's squad. He, along with Vetra, can accompany the Pathfinder on a mission to the planet Kadara in order to obtain information from Sloane Kelly.

Drack is an aged and grizzled veteran, even by krogan standards. He has spent over 1,400 years causing a ruckus in the Milky Way, wearing the title of soldier, mercenary, and at times, pirate. When the loyal, but stubborn, veteran was given the chance to join his clan on a voyage to Andromeda, he had no choice but to sign up. Doing so would present him with a whole new galaxy of stuff to shoot.

Drack is the grandfather of Nexus Superintendent Nakmor Kesh.

Jaal Ama Darav

Jaal Ama Darav is a native of the Andromeda galaxy. At some point after the arrival of the Andromeda Initiative in their corner of the universe, Jaal joins forces with the human Pathfinder Ryder and their team. Jaal comes from a famous angara family and is a high-ranking member of the angara resistance against the kett. He joins Ryder's team as an observer for the resistance because the angara are wary of the intentions of new species after the kett invaded the Heleus Cluster.

Since Mass Effect: Andromeda has a multiplayer component, it seems appropriate to have a section devoted to sharing out online IDs so we can set up some online matches with each other! I'll keep a handy list below with everyone's IDs so users can organize group matches together if they want!

Since the game is out already in much of the world, might as well open this place up now

Poor Barney

Thanks for your insight on the thread. Unfortunately Barney never updated his and it's gone without any response since September of last year. I asked for permission to take it over, and here I am. Hoping I can maintain interest, I guess it all depends on whether this game can get a stable following behind it.

Hopefully by the end of tomorrow I will have started diving into this world, and pass my own judgement. I am more of settings person, so that is my hope that the settings are awesome.

starcraft1111 XBL.

Going with Xbox as I got early access and played the original trilogy here first.

No matter what anyone else says, I am still excited, and the multiplayer in the trial was excellent.

Sadly, as an Australian, I have to wait another two days...but I have TAKEN LEAVE ESPECIALLY!

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Anyone finding that custom characters look really terrible in motion?

Ended up sticking with the default male Ryder because I couldn't get a custom character I liked.

Sadly I won't be getting the game for awhile, however I might stick with default Ryder now.
