Forums - PC Discussion - Google OS: could it happen?

Why are you people so openminded to a GoogleOS that doesn't exist when you can have a Linux today? Ubuntu is a magnificent OS.

If google took Linux and polished it up a bunch, got rid of a lot of bugs and made it a little easier for the average consumer it could do a lot of damage to Microsoft. I hate that Microsoft has such a monopoly and can release any piece of shit OS and people will buy it anyway because they are scared to switch to Macs. Google has the money to advertise it and get it in the retail channels better than any other company.

^Guy pissing on Microsoft Sign

I think it will be Linux based. They will standardize linux and make it more user friendly. Then using their obvious money they will be able to actually put it out on PC's and make sure that its 'office' equivalent is compatible with MS and free.

i agree that they will pretty much polish up linux and make it more user-friendly, and knowing google, they'll be innovative and creative in an attempt to get some people to try it out.

When was the last time you tried Ubuntu? On the 32-bit version, I know of no bugs that you speak of. Once Ubuntu 8.04 comes out april 25th it will be almost as polished as Vista, or Mac OS ( you can download the Beta). It already is more polished than XP. And with Ubuntu, after an install, everything the average user needs is there by default, except any cost. (Firefox browser, OpenOffice, Evolution email, Pidgeon Instant messaging. And anyone can try it out risk-free since the install you download burns to a cd that can launch a test version of the OS from your ram without installing. Again, when was your last exprience with a modern Linux?
