We get caught up in touting our favorite stuff so much I thought it would be good to take a look inward for once. Let's take a look at one or multiple of our favorite games and criticize. No game is perfect so there's always something to improve.
I'll pick a recent example. I love Horizon Zero Dawn but I thought after playing it that there was big missing part in the world design. There are no huge wreckages of cities. I mean there are some buildings here or there but where is the Fallout style UUUUGE cities? They have snow, dessert, forrest, etc. but no big metro areas to explore.
My other big thing with it is just how gridded out everything is. There are no spontaneous robo dino attacks. It's always "this is where this is located, if you want it go there" They could have thrown in some Skyrim like random enemies that show up and wreck your plans. It was lacking that element of spontaneous combat that I like in open world games sometimes. If I was fighting a thunder bird and then a T-rex showed up or a band of eclipse it would add a cool new element. Also some stealth human enemies would be cool
