Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Zelda BOTW be the next GTAV on youtube?

A lot of games get famous on youtube for a variety of reasons, but for GTAV, there is a special reason. Is not about the history, or the visual, but because of the challenges that players imagine and try to take on. Examples: people trying to stop the train, stop a boeing with a crowd , etc. Its all done out of imagination and based of the phisycs and systems  engine of the game. So here the thing, zelda came out, and it has one of the most profound phisycs engine ever created. Almost every idea work, in different degress, all kind of liberty, and people are noticing that. We alreadly have people trying to discover new way to do the same shit one way or the other. There is alreadly videos of people trying things on the game out there, and we really can't imagine the reach of possibilities people can come up with.

Of course, zelda has several disvantages. One is nintendo's youtube policy. Second, is nintendo position on mods on their game. Third, is that the game doesn't support any kind of multiplayer sandbox. Yet, this din't stop the community before. Will Zelda be able to pull trought dispise all this?

For the sake of the discussion, lets all ignore the "lol, nope" responses, ok?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

yeah, for Nintendo users and for kids who wanna play but don't have a console and need to watch let's plays. Not as big as gta or minecraft cause those games are on 3 platforms with a huge install base.

Until Nintendo's youtube Policy kicks in.

Nope. Just viewed two gameplay videos for my whole BotW gameplay: one about a boss fight in a divine beast, another about cooking recipes.

But I viewed all videos about the development etc .

Zelda is about exploration and finding stuff. Viewing videos would dimmish that enjoyment for me.

Hmm, I doubt it. I think it can certainly be popular, but not close to GTAV. GTAV has the multiplayer and mod advantage and those two things propel it to higher challenge/let's play heights, not to mention Nintendo's ass backwards way of dealing with let's players.

I feel like it's easier to create mayhem in GTAV which is what really interest many of the viewers.

Not with Nintendo's terrible youtube policies

Considering how active Nintendo is at pulling videos off of youtube that feature their content unless you're partnered with them, I'm going to vote "no".

Probably not, especially with their YouTube policies :p

Not a chance, and it's not a fair comparison. If GTAV was only on WiiU or something, maybe it would be a sensible thing.

GTAV and Minecraft are on a TON of systems, and are both gargantuan franchises.

Zelda is more niche than many think, because it's mostly a 'gamers' game. Mario is a much more well known character/series by a landslide. Even that though, won't make for a pop culture/Youtube mania like GTAV/Minecraft, because so few people relatively speaking can play the games.

How many copies of BOTW do you think will sell?

Now think about how popular GTAV and Minecraft have been, and how many copies are out there. Every kid in the country from age 7+ probably have played Minecraft.

Not until it has mods.
