Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Unconfirmed: Nintendo Raises Switch Forecast To 16 Mill From 8 Mill For Next Fiscal Year

8m was too low, but 16m is unrealistically high, especially after just 2 weeks of sales.

If they can hit that number in the Switch's first year, western 3rd parties would have no choice but to support the Switch.  At that point, even the ones that were laughing at Nintendo or said the Switch couldn't handle their games would try to find a way to make it work.

This thing is going to be massive, and Nintendo knows it. They obviously know something of huge significance that we all don't know to ramp up production this much. Pokemon MMO perhaps? O_o

NIntendo currently sells everything they shipped and they see huge demand for Switch regardles, note that we are outside holiday season,

This is not exactly correct. At the very least the initial shipment to Australia, Mexico and Italy still haven't been sold out. UK and France also have stock.

Wasn't there an article just a few days ago about how the Switch is costantly selling out everywhere in the UK and that people who haven't pre-ordered likely wouldn't be getting one? Doesn't sound like UK has a lot of stock then.

According to the WSJ, Nintendo has raised shipment levels for the Switch from 8 million (which was always a bit on the low side) to 16 million for the April 2017-March 2018 fiscal year. I can't confirm this for sure so take with a grain of salt until Nintendo says it officially.

Wait, so does that mean that they're aiming to ship 16m for the next fiscal year alone without taking March 2017 sales numbers into consideration?

It is true in most cases, and that's actually true for UK too.

They planned to produce 8m from March 2017. until March 2018, now they planning 16m for same time.

People need to realise that 16m doesn't mean they aiming to sold all 16m but also to prevent stock issues like currently ones.

It probably means they're aiming to sell through 13-14 million units, which is still huge.

No way, after 1.5 million in a week they think it'll do that?

How much was PS4's first year again? It did 1 million in 24 hours in one country, I mean if they do it good for them but I can't see it happening.

I only hope (if the rumour is true) that this bullish prediction means that Nintendo is preparing something massive
