Good Lord! SO many predictions smashed without a hitch!

Have you got a link to the predictions?

Shook!

I can't believe a new fantasy/Sci-fi adventure IP is actually pulling these numbers. Not to reduce this to a Zelda comparison but for the last 2 decades its felt like we've had Zelda and a couple of flash in the pan adventure games where sales have essentially put the future of the franchise in doubt Okami, Darksiders etc. Sony please look after this IP!

It's great that both games are succesfull , also I loved Okami,  but Horizon is more a continuation of  the Ubisoft and Bethesda  openworld games that have been succesful in recent years, rather than being a source of hope for the adventure game genre.

You're welcome (though, in fairness, many of the predictions in that second link were closer, so not as much excitement there). :P

As much as we like to have a chuckle about the extreme predictions low or high  , it;s not a bad thing to se close predictions and their reasoning.

No, 3m MAX.

Nice find, ... of one single poster. The thread is interesting the post is in. OP was right on one and wrong on one and sales is still open to see.

OT: Congrats Horizon. This is the game I looked on for a while now because it is interesting. This makes me want a PS4 *insert usual I wish Sony would go 3rd-party so I could play it on my PC*. Good work!

To be fair though quite a few people were low balling HZD sales wise. Heck even you said in that very same thread that it may do 1-3 million and said like 3-5 million for Zelda if I am not mistaken. Another guy said 2.5 million max. I know for sure that one guy JakDaSak said 3 million was the max(I remember him so clearly because he kept going back and forth about how HZD didn't have a chance or something) and those are just posters off the top of my head.

And come to the dark side and buy a PS4!!!! Lots of great titles! You won't regret it!

To me the most interesting thing was the poll.

Yep, you're right. I didn't think a new IP would go so well right off the start. Very well. My zelda prediction might be also too low seeing the reception, but I clearly underestimated the new IP.

Well if anything it would be TLOU + GTAV that actually set the precedent. Release near the end of the gen, then re-release on the new platform for a huge boost in sales thanks to double dipping. You'll get much more sales that way than releasing on both last gen/current gen at the same time.

That is a very good idea, but it's not going to work next gen...
I mean, X86 architeture will, most likely, become the standard for xbox and playstation for a long time, and whit this backward compatibility will, almost for sure, be athing in the future of PS5 and Xbox "insert name".

That's excellent for a new IP. Well done.

I fully  expect  ps5  to be backwards compatible  with ps4 including  a "boost" mode to make all ps4 games run at a solid  framerate.

If thats the  case it means ps4 was more  of a next ps1 and ps5 will be the   next ps2.
