Yeah, some Cauldrons really had that dungeon vibe.Really hope they expand greatly upon the idea.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

You are right and that's not worth the hassle for Rockstar and any game developers. I think its funny as women want equal rights but when it comes to violence that is acceptable only when done on men and in case of women only when it is done by other women. I think the gender of the protagonist does not effect the sales of a game.
Yes I agree Killzone 2 and 3 are some of the best FPS games I've played but they are treated as second rate games in the genre by many gamers and critics. I guess the more weighty feel of the weapons and more strategic gameplay isn't something console gamers like though its popular on PC.
I think with Breath of the Wild's success and the sales benefit it gave to Switch both Sony and Microsoft will have one huge first party game as a cross generation game even delaying the game to be cross generation. I think they will be God of War and Halo 6. I kind of don't like that but the success of the Switch and Breath of the Wild has set a precedent for other companies. |
Did KZ3 even have the weighty guns? They removed most of that even in KZ2 through updates and patches. I think it was always treated as second class because it was. The graphics were amazing but everything else in the games were meh. Especially online. KZ2 was amazing at the start but became such an unbalanced mess and spawn camper heaven. KZ3 I bought day one and had tons of issues online with glitches and balance. Biggest problem was teams were never even, game would constantly make you outnumbered by 2-3 people. The SP in 3 was way better. Never bothered with Killzone 6, always looked mediocre to me.
The best thing GG did was hire new writers for Horizon, or maybe just the one guy from Obsidian. The story and writing are way way way better than the KZ games. The lore you find in some of the ruins and cauldrons are awesome and keep you comimg back to find more.

Yeah it sucked when they removed the weighted guns with those patches. KZ2 had one of the best MP expereinces I had ever played IMO. I was upset whent hey changed all of that in KZ3. It was a better feel than COD and everything else out there. It felt more rewarding. I miss the good old KZ2 days sigh. I spent more time on KZ2 MP and Gears 1 for XB 360 than almost any MP game I can imagine.....outside of Tekken lol.
The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

The guns in KZ 3 still had more weight than Call of Duty and Battlefield games, way more actually and I think KZ 2 and 3 had alot more than good graphics. The level design is the best in any shooter game I've played and I've played a lot of them. I'm not talking about aesthetics but the gameplay benefits of the levels and the way they integarte amazingly well with the mechanics of the game. Killzone 2 was even better than 3 in that aspect but both were amazing. Killzone 2 also had an incredible atmosphere which I haven't got even in military shooters that feel more like Hollywood military than actual military. Killzone 3 had amazing pacing and was just incredible fun. I'm talking about the campaign here.
The graphics did improve the atmosphere of both games but it was far from the only good thing about them. The story was actually the only bad thing about these games everything else varied from okay to amazing, most being good to amazing. Killzone 2 could have benefitted from some more aesthetic variety to the levels and 3 could have had a way better story considering how it focussed more on that aspect which made the story more of aproblem in 3 than in 2. Still very good games.
I agree that Horizon has way better writing and its a good thing it does else it wouldn't have got such good reviews even though the gameplay is amazing as Guerilla has always been in that regard. I think they are finallygetting the recognition and sales their games have deserved since Killzone 2 and I'm happy about Horizon's sales. But sadly I don't think we'll see a Killzone 4 now.
Impressive numbers. I've been bearish on GG for the past ten years but it sounds like the outside help made a big difference.

Sony's been pretty good about female leads. Horizon, First Light, TLoU part 2, Lost Legacy, and a few others that are slipping my mind have been/are going to be female led. |
They're great, and they sell well still when they do it, I was just sarcastically repeating a narrative I've seen around in shitty comment sections.
There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'
Holy shit, looks like Horizon is the next big money-printing franchise for Sony!!! So happy for Guerilla Games!!!

Well.... its sitting at 2.6M after two weeks. This is march, so say it sells like 1M more betwen now and september. If sony somehow decides to drop the PS4 price to $200 and bundles it with Horizon from october/november through to december (which I suspect they would do, I expect Horizon to be the game that replaces the Uncharted 4 bundle) thats another at least 4M sales right there. So assuming any of the above things happen, I am saying 7.5-8M by the end of 2017 alone. |
I can almost guarantee this will be Sony's move and a brilliant one at that meanwhile on top of that multiplats software launches during the Holiday period will just take in the cash with maybe one or two other PlaytSation exclusives. It's just smart strategy at this point.
