If you want one that is not "old", I suggest TrollHunters on Netflix.
The Teletubbies. Just try to imagine whatever happened to that universe to end up as a mix between "1984" "I have no mouth and I must scream".
As a grown ass man that watches and loves cartoons, out of those shows, I'd say Over the Garden Wall was the most intense.
Spongebob Squarepants is, to extent. For example, the tattletale strangler.
I'd say Animals of Farthing Wood is one notable series missing from the list, as is Alfred J. Kwak.

The newest season is pretty dark. If I saw a character suffer like that, I'd be traumatized.
