Sure, but didn't Nintendo send at least 500k units over to Japan? If only 1.5m has been sold already, then it is not supply constrainted yet, no?
I still think the Switch will pick up steam later on. It is a handheld-based device, and Japan loves handhelds.

Well PS4 total is lower and no one thinks PS4 is a flop. And Switch isn't a handheld.

What do you mean?
It's a hybrid, so it's both handheld and home console ( or it's even a tablet console too ), Nintendo calls it home gaming system, so we could deem it as portable home console!
Of course, if you mean that switch is not a handheld for 3DS owners ( mainly those who don't care for home gaming on tv ) then yeah it's not a handheld console for them! They will have to pay 29000 yen for switch and 6000 yen for Mario kart 8 deluxe when they spent 19000 yen and 4500 yen ( by the time Mario kart 7 was released )
As I have said several times, they will have to wait for a big price drop or proper 3DS successor switch revision ( if that would be just a handhled device then that isn't a switch, switch it is the dock and detachable controlers plus the grip, but they could still name it switch because of taking same games )
As it now better be destined to those who like both of the gaming ways and will pay just 300$ for them while they had to throw 500-600$ in the previous gen, and home console players who love the oppurtunity to be able to play what they were playing on tv lying on the sofa, anywhere inside & outside home and soever they want, 299$ initial price for a home console is very good, in the near future it will become just 249$.
