It's powerful enough to run Zelda, Mario, side-scrollers at 60fps. Mario Kart at 1080p/60, and the coming slew of Bravely imitators at (resolution and frame rate don't really matter).

It's gonna be a fun 4-5 years :)

You pretty much just described the Wii U.

and perhaps Wii U was a fun 4-5 years for him

You do realise that few other Indie studio also stated that is Switch is very easy do develope for.

Easy development is not only point if we talk if some big 3rd party game will come to Switch.

So the Switch is going to get all of the lovely little indies that the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, 3DS and PS Vita get already. That's splendid news from months ago.

That's not point, point that like few sources stated that Switch is platform that is very easy to develop for.

And my point is that that statement is relative to the game that is being made for it.

Factor 5 is alive???!!! So......... Team17 and Factor 5 are around in this generation. Damn, i feel old. :o

Edit: For those wondering who they are. Team17 and Factor 5 are very well known game developers for Commodore Amiga.

FACTOR 5 IS BACK????!!!!

Yes, plus a bunch that never came to and never will come to any of those other platforms...

That "easier than PS4" is quite misleading, as it can't run a lot of what is on PS4.

Probably means API. API maybe easier to work with on Switch to get more out of the hardware he has. PS4 API maybe a bit more complicated to get more form that hardware. Nothing to do with power.

Yeah but this time I can actually play anywhere on the "gamepad" part.

Let's say... 3.5.

I think the Wii U would have had a solid 5 years of good games if they didn't pull out early. I get why they did, but it still sucks. :(

The good news is that Nintendo products hold their value. After selling things back, I got way more than my money's worth out of the Wii U endeavor.

The Switch being between the Wii-U and XBox One in performance in docked mode doesn't say everything since all games have to work on handheld too. Its also not just going up against the old consoles from 2013 but competing directly with the mid-cycle upgrades.

People can disagree but the price between the PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch is actually not a lot and the switch is priced well above the base ps4 and xbox one models.

As a handheld its powerful enough but as a home console it won't deliver anywhere near the experience already available on the market. I am glad people are enjoying the device but the debates about the power are quite pointless its been very clear nintendo has no intention of joining the war to be "the most powerful console" on the market

I think I gave up being able to play RDR2 or Mass Effect or Cyberpunk on a Nintendo system long ago

Switch is still strong even in portable mode than Wii U, and Wii U was actually great home console for Nintendo games, and Switch can be only better.

Of Course that Nintendo has no intention of joining the war to be "the most powerful console" on the market, and what would be point when other two companies are already doing that, best Nintendo chances are to offer something different and new, not most "powerful hardware".

Having console thats stronger than Wii U or half of XB1 in form factor of Switch is very impressive.

yes, people want their cake and to eat it too.

the reality is for its size and portability, the Switch packs PLENTY of punch. People just have to reel in their expectations. an $800 tablet on the market isn't going to be able to play big video games. There really isn't anything particularly portable beyond like mini laptops that can play demanding applications.

for its price point ($300), the Switch seems to have decent power.

Half of X1? Where did you read that? I can guarantee you that its nowhere near half s powerfull as the X2. Maybe it has something like a 50% boost compared with the WiiU, but seeing how Zelda runs on it I think even that is pushing it a bit.

OT: F5 is back, good news
