Forums - General Discussion - Choose either Daylight Saving Time or Standard Time but you can't have both...

Which one do you choose?

Standard Time 44 57.89%

Daylight Saving Time 32 42.11%

Total:76

we just dont have any reason for using Daylight Savings Time anymore, and i would prefer it if we just left time the way it was. but i can understand if people do prefer the extra hour of daylight.

but yeah, constantly switching between the two is unnecessary.

Maybe you need to grow up. It's an hour jesus.

Tell that to the people that had a workplace injury or heart attack thanks to losing a hour.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-heart-daylightsaving-idUSBREA2S0D420140329

"Switching over to daylight saving time, and losing one hour of sleep, raised the risk of having a heart attack the following Monday by 25 percent, compared to other Mondays during the year, according to a new U.S. study released on Saturday.

By contrast, heart attack risk fell 21 percent later in the year, on the Tuesday after the clock was returned to standard time, and people got an extra hour's sleep."

https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/hr-topics/risk-management/pages/workplace-injuries-daylight-saving-time.aspx

"the DST switch resulted in U.S. workers getting 40 minutes less sleep, a 5.7 percent increase in workplace injuries and nearly 68 percent more workdays lost to injuries."

Simple fix. Go to bed earlier.

I find it funny how much people complain about changing the clock by one hour. I'm pretty sure most schedules change by at least that once every week (i.e. weekdays vs. weekend).

However I wouldn't mind switching to just Daylight Time, more light in the evening year around sounds fine to me.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

I agree, get tired of the time changing twice a year. Hopefully it's eliminated soon.

Semi tried to myself but guess what happened.  Woke up 2 and 1/2 hours early and couldn't go back to sleep because of anxiety of clock change and worried about working early.  Don't you just hate when your mind races and can't get back to sleep.  Lets just say I had a semi miserable day at work but survived.  Noticed a few more absent people than usual from work today though.  I can't wait till I get back to 2nd shift because I have never been a morning person.

I don't care very much, but if some states decide to switch to Standard Time and get rid of DST and others don't...well, it's going to be a nightmare. I already don't know what time it is in my home state of California, imagine if I'm here in Wisconsin and we're on DST and my dad calls me an hour after I went to bed because it's only 9 PM in California. Blech.

That is why I think we should have like a brexit vote.  Have the entire nation decide by popular vote to stick with DST or standard time for good.  I think once it is decided most people won't give a fuck which time to stay with.  It is the whole switching that gets me all pissy when clocks jump forward time.

DST. Because I want our AST to be aligned to the EST.

Which ever is the summer one. It's so depressing when it's suddenly dark an hour earlier in Fall.

Hell no to DST permanently. It gets dark in winter early enough as it is on standard time. Personally I think I might make decent use of the extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day about once or twice per summer. So staying with Standard time all year 'round suits me fine.

But I think a majority of people in New Zealand would want to keep the status quo and just handle the change every year, because more people make better use of that extra daylight in the evening, and it's quite good for tourism which is a really big part of our GDP. Gotta love those summer evening Hobbiton tours.

Honestly it depends where you are in the world.

That extra hour can help. Not every state in Australia applies daylight savings because they are bright enough already.

Were I am it is good having extra light after work, that way you feel more motivated to exercise and do stuff outside.
