I don't know why, but I'm kind of getting the impression a ton of people didn't watch the video...

With all of the love put into every aspect of this game (aside from some cringe worthy voice acting), I think it will. To me, this is no ordinary experience. The feeling that BotW has given me is something I haven't felt since Ori and the Blind Forest.

What were you hoping people would get out of the video you linked in the original post?

A higher Metacritic score over another game doesn't mean immediate GOTY. Look at Uncharted last year with Overwatch. The former had a higher score than the latter, yet it didn't win GOTY. There's also many other games this year who might have a higher chance of getting it. Claiming journalists aren't real journalists just because they give the award to other game that's not Breath of the Wild is no better than calling them "fake news".

It's not the Metacritic people are looking at – it's what it represents. It's scores that high because most people gave it a perfect score, which means most publications will give the award to it, unless there are other perfect scores that same year.

As for the VGA's, Overwatch was a bigger success story than Uncharted 4. It was obviously going to win game of the year. Zelda has been in a quality slump for what can be argued has been over a decade. Zelda IS that very same success story. Overwatch changed the game for online shooters on consoles. Zelda changes the game for open world games, which is arguably a bigger deal. Uncharted 4 didn't change anything, it was just a really good game that hardcore fans appreciated. Unless Red Read 2, Super Mario Odyssey, or something else does something bigger than that, nothing will come close this year to Zelda, even if it's very good. It almost has an unfair advantage because it's also attached to the Switch launch.

Well, it might have been the bigger success story and a game changer, but here is a representation of many of the publications that might believe otherwise. The Game Awards is not a full representation of the entire industry, as only a handful of publications are the ones who make up their awards commitee.

How is this sarcastic? The video you showed is something cool and fun. If you're talking about the way it runs, the game runs smooth, not sure what happened to his footage, looks like it was from a choppy livestream.

What a failure of a thread.

I already addressed "most publications" in the first paragraph. "Most publications" will make their decisions based on their own reviews, where most gave it a perfect score.

It's pretty good. Probably my favourite Zelda game, but it's far from perfect. Nintendo still has some growing pains to go through I think with a lot of the new mechanics. The weapon degredation for example can jump off a god damn cliff. But over all, it's pretty sweet.
I like Horizon Zero Dawn a little more, that's probably my favourite game this year so far, but it's only March. A pretty busy March too, we've still got Mass Effect to look forward to.

GOTY contenders will be red dead redemption 2, horizon, zelda, mass effect andromeda, then there is nioh and nier that scored great but have not a single chance to win or be GOTY contenders ( for the game awards and other goty awards ).

In the end read dead will win , rockstar main games always win.

Which is a shame because The Last of Us deserved it a lot more than GTA V did back in 2013

The Last of Us did win, it had a total of 249 awards to GTA5's 160.
