Forums - Nintendo Discussion - BOTW Music is awful...

I like it.

Twilight Princess is a good game, but by the time I finished the game I was completely sick of the overworld theme.

I strongly disagree! The music is subtle when you are playing from the television, but amazing with headphones and you can hear all of the detail.

*Music spoilers ahead*

Best Hyrule Castle theme in the series! It has the perfect balance of nostalgia and new.

The Guardian theme fits so well with their encounters.

This mini-bosses' theme is great for the fight.

The song when you fight a certain "boss" is fun and fits the context very well.

Same thing with this fight

And the Rito Village theme (nostalgia anyone?)

But I think my favorite is

There so much more good music, but they balance it with the environmental sounds. I do think Nintendo should have added sound control so that people who don't care about the environmental sounds can turn up the music, and vice-versa. For me, they complement eachother well.

Go to a Sheika Tower, relax, enjoy the view, and listen to that piano do its job. That's my favorite song in the game.

I also like that Kakariko Village has a new song instead of just a remix of a remix of a remix of the original.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I hate music in games. Even if it's good music, it gets annoying after a while. So I'm very happy that Breathof the Wild has less and softer music. It feels a lot more natural and relaxing.

I think the music is perfect...

Have a nice day...

Can you imagine hearing the theme song a hundred thousand times just in the first few hours alone? It would be annoying as hell.

Look I love Zelda music, but I have literally been hearing that song for 30 years now. I'm glad they shook things up. There's a lot of variety to these new songs. Sorry they're all not fast and instantly catchy?

I wouldn't say it's awful, but in no way do I really like it. I like my songs catchy and memorable, which the series has done a great job of for the most part. Atmospheric songs don't do it for me

The ambient sound and minimalistic music at some parts in the overworld works with the theme of exploration and the huge world of a kingdom long past it's prime. Towns and such still have nice music. Regardless though while this approach means the game will have less of the memorable, bombastic Zelda music we know and love, I think it was a necessary trade-off.

And the classic Kakariko music is in the game, the music making Rito you meet every once in a while plays it at some point... Or on second thought maybe it was the Lon Lon Ranch theme instead, I forgot...

I don't think it's so much that it's awful than it's just... kind of lacking in the game. There doesn't seem to be a lot a tracks for the game, going more for an atmospheric style, and I don't think it's a bad thing in this case. I think it makes the world feel more real and immersive this way, rather than having a theme go with the overworld. It makes it feel more like a world than a game. It also kind of feels like those old cartoons where the music helps narrate with what happens on screen. I think it's pretty good personally, and while I like having an epic tune play while I'm out on the overworld, I think the atmospheric sounds fits well with this.

I like it. It's very understated. Somehow music always seems a bit more mature to me when it doesn't rely on catch melodies like movies and games often do.

Catchy melodies are great too, but I don't need to here the same melodies remixed over and over again. I appreciate the break.
