Forums - Nintendo Discussion - BOTW Music is awful...

Music is such an important part of the Zelda series. I feel like BOTW has the worst music in the series... The overworld would be much more exciting with thematic music. Have a different theme for each region maybe. Also, Kakariko Village has a terribly generic Asain vibe. It's god awful... Kakariko village theme (made famous by ALTTP) is one of the most memorable/beautiful/relaxing/catchy theme I've ever heard in a game...

I don't know. I'm enjoying the hell out of this game so far. 13 hours in. But my overall impression of it is so much lowered by the soundtrack.

I like the music in the game. Very atmospheric.

No it's not. It's great. Set's the atmosphere and in moments like the Faron Dragon with the Chinese Erhu is very pretty. When I sneaked in Hyrule castle it played a fantastic remix of classic Zelda music. Like any Zelda the music is great, just happens in this games case is more for atmosphere than just static themes.

The sounds of nature are effectively the soundtrack. And the sounds are quite effective I have to say, I don't think I've ever heard a game that feels more like real nature ever. I give them some credit for having the balls to do it.

It's cool for one game, I don't think it will be a staple of the series from now on though. Zelda's more traditional bombastic musical scores will return for the next one.

Disagree, maybe could be more music but they didnt want to have to much music in world while player exploring because sound of nature.

Go to Tarrey Town. It's one of the greatest songs I've heard in any game

nope, the music is awesome and fits. there are some "epic" tracks but the soundtrack is subtle and progressive, you don't want a zelda fanfare while you're climbing Twin Peaks, you want this:

You know there's a lot going on and the game knows it too, but sometimes there's a feeling of desolation (in a good way) and this kind of music is perfect for that.

I agree that it's terrible if we're going on the premise that the song structure of ALTTP and OOT must be repeated every time. If that's the case, this game fails completely. But I don't think that's the case. I think they wanted to totally restructure the Zelda franchise from the ground up... music included. In THAT context, it's great and they achieved their goal.

Atmospheric music is generic, I agree. Never been a fan. It's god awful

I though it was very quiet when I started playing yet it changed my opinion after playing for many hours. Repetitive music in the overworld would have become annoying. There is plenty subtle music around, and the music themes in and around Rito village, where I've been the past few days, are great.
