Fantastic numbers. Switch is the first Nintendo hardware I am genuinely excited on.
Though great numbers delay the price drop and subsequently my purchase.

Where did you get that 500,000 number? And we're all Nintendo to release hard numbers. |
We know that the Switch had the best launch(saleswise) ever for a Nintendo hardware in the Americas. And according to some users here, the Wii sold around 400 k in the US.Add 100 k for the others countries for good measure, and you have at least 500 k sales, with good chance of being higher, for the Americas!
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, Kimishima said in February that they would increase supply due to higher demand than expected. So maybe these new shipments that retailers are saying that they will get later that month is this extra shipment. We could see(and I only mean could) a bigger total shipment for March.

DIdn't gamestop come out and say they had like 500k pre-orders and like 250k on wait list?
If that were true, I would think including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, ect that there would be more than 500k sold.
Always found Gamestops statement to be weird though. no way did Gamestop alone get 1/4 of the ENTIRE WORLD's launch shipment. Or is teh 2 million all of march? Is there going to be a 2nd shipment before April?

The Wii sold 400,000 in the first 8 days, not in the first 2 days.

Except Gamestop never said that. So, we still have no idea about the Switch US numbers. Probably around 300,000 in the fiest week-end.
celador said: Objective completed for Nintendo in France. The distributor has sold 105.000 units of its new console, the Nintendo Switch, available from March 3rd. This is the best launch for Nintendo in France since the eighties. It is also the best launch of a console in France, between all the distributors, according to Nintendo. The french branch has fulfilled its objective, which was to match the sales of the Wii, who sold 95.000 units on its first weekend, in November 2007.

The PS4 sold around 85,000-90,000 in the first week-end so slightly behind the Switch. Of course, it took months for the PS4 to meet all the demand.
Damn, insane numbers. Did not expect it to beat the PS4 in any country except Japan tbh, but if it was going to do it anywhere else, it had to be France haha.
