As far as I can recall the PSP did wonderfully.

There's been a few times where I saw piracy actually affect consoles... Xbox (OG) where people would download the entire library onto their console and some of those early CD-based consoles that you could simply burn your own games for. Even then, the impact was minimal as most people don't bother with such things.

Besides, Switch games are still a long, long way from being playable when emulated.

Really? Because I wouldn't be surprised at all if pirated games are playable on the Switch in a proof of concept form within a month.

That's not at all the same thing as being playable.

By that I mean - It wouldn't be surprised if within a month, hackers have figured out a way to play unsigned roms on the Switch, it's just the exploit won't packaged in a way that is readily distributable and easy to install by other people. That can take a while on its own.
