Pretty good Japanese sales, they certainly will get the most out of this, given their love for mobile stuff.

I find it very hard to believe the Switch did better than the Wii (in the US and overall), gonna need to see them sales.

good start, but it was always going to be in Japan. As everywhere else, the challenge is to come. Hopefully MK8 next month and ARMS will keep the momentum going until Splatoon 2 drops

If the sales would have been higher, but aren't because of limited stock and being sold out everywhere, what are the sales gonna look like next week?

Should it be expected to be lower, but not becasue the system isn't selling, but because there's still none of them TO sell yet to the people that want one? Or would it just be sort of the same as the first week? 

The sales seem good so far though. Nintendo just needs to keep up the momentum.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Japan first weeks are pretty consistent across the board. The PSP was really supply constrained too as I recall because Sony kinda rushed it to get it out right at the end of 2004 for Japan if I recall correctly. 

Japan will be a good market to watch week 2 and 3 because Nintendo resupplies Japan on a weekly basis most of the time and scalping is not as much of a thing.

I'm also slightly alarmed that we haven't gotten any numbers from Nintendo. 400k from Japan and UK - can we assume Nintendo only shipped a million of these things total?

They weren't kidding about 2 million shipped by the end of March...

Not that impressive. Ps4 1million sold day 1. We all knew Switch was going to sell well right off the gun.

Keep in mind the higher price and the offseason launch of the Switch.
