US: 750K
Japan: 330K
France: 105K
UK: 80K
Rest Europe: 300K

That would be excelent numbers. WiiU sold only 13 million during it's entire 4 years of life =P

The switch sellong well at launch is a pretty widely accepted notion.

Maybe on Vgchartz...Youtube and gaf...different story.

The first publicly available numbers were the UK, where it did sell poorly. After that, people just have anecdotes. It's not hard to find at all in the US, so it just balloons into the idea that isn't not selling well.

Ok. Well it's not biggest Nintendo market outside the US so a few countries will sell more than 80k. Japan seems to have smashed 80k so that's good.

France numbers are out. 105k units. Like I said, more than the UK.

Europe stands now at 185k units in JUST 2 countries.

I did say UK isn't the biggest Nintendo market outside of the US. Germany should push similar numbers to UK.

Anyway this wasn't my issue with you, I though you were downplaying UK numbers as if it was a small market. You cleared up what you meant.

Definitely did NOT sell poorly at UK. ~80K is something that Wii U never dreaming of

Please explain... why won't they be a regular thing? PS4 did it, XB1 did it.... and both did better than their previous console launches, which did better than their previous console launces..... so what metric other than nintendo not doing it do you have to suggest that it wouldn't be a normal thing.

And this march nonsense again...... ok, lets just settle it. Are you aware that the PS2 relead on march 4th  in japan? And sold over 900k consols (980k to be exact) by march 5th. 24hrs after launch? In just one market.

So what exactly are you trying to say?

Those numbers were retail orders, not consumer sales.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2000/03/06/sony_sells_980_000_playstation/

Point still stands.... sony had actually taken the orders (and money) of siginidficantly more consoles than it was actually able to manufacture. And lendig to what i was saying, that meant that every machine coming off the line was already bought by someone. Long story short, thats generally how launches go. And if sony were able to have actually brought those consoles to market they would have been sold too.... well, because people had already paid for them.

Switch is something special, you realize it more and more with each hour of playing it, while moving around in different places that you normally would not game at

~80k is bad for a launch week period. If the Wii U ever becomes an actual comparison, then you know that the Switch is a collossal failure. I don't think the bar is that low.

Having a portable + a home console is just an amazing idea. First Nintendo console I've been interested in since NES. Getting this before my honeymoon in June.

Very impressive. People forget the PS4 launched in late November - prime holiday sales period - while the Switch launched at the start of March.

Also remember that PS4 launched along with the XB1 that also sold over a million in the first 24 hours.

Nintendo could have done the same and gone against The Scorpio in November, but they decided that March was the best month for their strategy.

What could have been better? We will never know.
