Switch ~80K

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-03-06-strong-start-for-nintendo-switch-in-the-uk

if it isnt sold out thats pretty bad. PS4 did what? 240k? it did 120k last black friday.

Yeah but that's taking things out of context. The Wii U sold 40k first week so the Switch did double that. It didn't launch during the holiday season and the article says it was sold out at most major retailers and there weren't many units stuffed into the channel.

So no, that's not pretty bad. It's not amazing either (the PS4 launch was amazing) but it was a solid launch when compared to other Nintendo consoles in the UK.

Ooooh well.  Maybe it'll have legs. Price cut in the future? Hopefully making a cut isn't cost prohibitive right now.

To be fair, the UK seems to be one of the middling markets for Switch. I think numbers in Japan and the US will be much more telling about its actual performance.

You're probably right. Seems to have a lot more attention in those territories. To be honest, compared to other Nintendo systems in the UK, these numbers aren't that bad.

Next week sales will be interesting. I expect a havy drop for switch.

Price cut in the future?

switch price cut = 100 % in june (after the E3) or end of summer. While the PS4 is flooded with good & big games, the summer will not be good for the switch. This is clear when you look at the games lists.

PS4 - 250.000

edit: launch week = )

The PS4 UK launch week numbers were for 48 hours, just like the Switch (according to wiki anyway)

WiiU's launch was disastrous. it being sold out for the most part is good, but units allocated for the market on launch might indiciate nintendo didnt see much demand for the console and opted to send units else where. either way, selling about half the XB1's launch isnt really a good number, its a market improvement over the WiiU certainly, but it isnt really something impressive.

legs are what are important now, how it holds up and continues selling. if it doesnt drop much next week and holds its legs, launch week wont be that important.

The PS4 launched on a Friday as well, did it not? I know it did in the US, and I thought it came out exactly two weeks later in the UK.

Anyone wanna buy some doom?
