I think Europe's will be strongest region saleswise for this game.

I don't know why people undertracked this game so much. People put way too much faith into Zelda smothering Horizon.

the PS4 has a 60millions installbase, a strongly active userbase, the game had a lot of hype, and got great reviews.

Everything was here for it to be successful, Zelda or not Zelda.

I'm not surprised at all by those numbers.

It wasn't so much about Zelda. It was more about Guerilla Games pedigree and that they have no background making RPGs. This also dwarves every game they've made prior, when you consider how quickly it's selling. 

Plus im sure a lot of people wanted to keep their expectations in check.

I've never doubted the game qualities. The E3 2016 gameplay demo was proof enough that guerilla was doing great work... What more people needed?

From the start, people responded really well to the world and characters of horizon, and people love open world games.

This had winner writtent all over it from the start.

Seems like my Predicton of 1.5 Million first week might be even too low, since i dont think second week sales would be 1.1 Million !!
But damn 2.6 Million in two weeks is amazing and the best news is, that we will get Horizon Zero Dawn 2 or DLC !! And personally, i hope they go straight into making Horizon Zero Dawn 2, but i wouldnt complain about some DLC/Expansion !^^

bruh and you have a horizon avatar and you said not a chance for horizon to do 1 million? For shame.

For retail it might be OK since the numbers include digital if you take 20% as digital that 520K leaves around 2.08mill for two weeks so it might be close.
