Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Few Facts about Zelda BotW Meta Score

Whether or not the score is deserved (I'll reserve judgment for when I finish) it's kind of mind-boggling that it happened.

I just didn't think it possible in this current video game climate. I never would have thought that a game from 2017, Zelda or otherwise, could become the most acclaimed video game ever, according to sites like GameRankings.

Can someone explain why everyone seems to be using metacritic and not gamerankings? As far as I can see it's even owned by the same company.

This year i could see Read Dead 2 getting a 98.

Last fact: Not all the reviews has come in. Maybe Ninty only sent copies to the people they knew wouldn't be as critical, so we have to wait for the rest. It only needs like one yellow to fall down.

IMO it very hard that any game again will achieve what Zelda BotW achieved.

So you predict no video game from now till mankinds extinction will review as well as BotW?

I was about to point out how silly that is, but then I remembered the end is nigh.

I mean, sure, these are a few facts about the score, but I expected, I dunno, some fun tidbits about the score itself, not just standard data. xD

Something like "There's only 4 games with 98 meta score: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Soul Calibur/Soul Edge, GTA IV and Breath of the Wild". Of all those, Breath of the Wild is the second most-reviewed one so far (67 critic reviews) with the 360 version of GTA IV being the most (86 critic reviews).

You can't expect too much when all this information can be noted in a few clicks on Metacritic's site.

If journalism taught me something, it is that people is too lazy to make that amount of clicks to uncover info, hence why our job is so demanded!

Games getting a high meta is definitely hard with a lot more reviewers than before, so it's great this game do well

But like all games, the metascore doesn't really dictate whether I actually enjoy it or not since it's all opinions anyways :p

I've put in about 30 hours. I can understand why people would play 10 and go "This is boring" and quit, because you need to go to specific areas to get these crazy abilities that really open up the game. I'm really starting to have my mind blown now that I'm finding all this stuff.

No, I wrote "its very hard" not that any game want do that or that is impossible. Today we usually have some reviews that will gave low score just for clickbait, and actually I am very surprised that Zelda BotW also don't have one. Fact is that Zelda BotW is highest rating game (alongside GTAIV) in last 15 years, back than we didnt had clicbait and we now having more reviewers.
