Forums - Music Discussion - Taylor Swift is a rock and roll legend <3

She's okay.

She's talented. Her older stuff was way better though. She wrote it herself, it was more natural. Now it's just manufactured stuff she writes with the help of others to top the charts.

Decades later The Beatles are still popular and new generations get access to their music. Do you think your daughters daughter will ever hear Shake It Off? Fuck no.

I agree with you in that her popularity and status makes her a legend of sorts. Rock and roll though? Definitely not. A pop legend? Sure! It's not like one of those is better than the other, it's just the kind of music involved.

I feel the same way. Hell, Slumber Party alone is better than her entire discography for me.

Slumber Party was a major flop. lol

Slumber Party sold over one million tracks. Don't come for Britney. She is a legend and an icon. Her choreography alone is killing the entirety of Taylors performances. Also, if you were a true pop music fan, you would respect the industry greats like Micheal Jackson, The Beatles, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears,  Madonna, Whitney, JLo, all of them because they paved the way for these newer pop stars (even if most of the new stars are forgettable).

Also, please realize that none of Taylors music is rock music. Her Red album MIGHT be classified as pop/rock. But just barely.

What does it being a flop have to do with anything?

I'm not quite sure you know what Rock is, lol. To my knowledge Taylor Swift has never released a rock song. She used to be a country star, then sold out and became a pop star. Never has she been a rock star and certainly not a rock legend.

The Story of us is definitely a pop-rock song. But your right, she's not a rock star.

You must however realize that that remains purely subjective.

I disagree. Count the grammys and album sales.

Yeah, the Beatles have sold WAY more albums then TSwift, and the grammys are the same amount (which is impressive), though she won some of them for catagories that didnt even exist back when the Beatles made music i.e best song written for visual media.

She still has some impressive stats, but her level of popularity does not match that of The Beatles or even Michael Jackson or even Queen. And no amount of claiming proves otherwise. And by your own statment Beyonce is more popuar then her in both sales and Grammys.

I hear Taylor Swift likes to go seal clubbing for food. She says they taste like chicken.

I'd listen to one of the three rock songs you provide as an example but I'd probably just end up bashing my brains in with a hammer.  Is the We Belong Together a copy of Pat Benatar We Belong or the countless other artist that have a song title We Belong Together?

You can tell it just by the way that she looks at it!
