Forums - Nintendo Discussion - For those who already have their Switch, how comfortable for your hands is it to play in portable mode?

After bitching I went out at midnight and bought myself a pro-controller along with all the Amiibo. I played most of the day with the pro controller but then I took the switch upstairs when my GF was ready for bed and it was quite comfortable (not as good as the Pro though). I haven't tried the grip yet or messed with the joycons detached but that might be comfortable on some games. Time will tell but I'm happy I got the pro controller now and after buying the Amiibo I really can't justify bitching about the price of the controllers anymore.

It feels very comfortable. Still, like Captain Yuri, I like the Wii U Gamepad just a little bit more.

I don't have a switch. :( Cry

I did try it out however at a Bestbuy.

Compared to the 3DS and Vita, it is much more comfortable, especially since I have big hands. No more clawing at my handheld and needing to stretch my hand every now and then.

In console mode, I found the grip to be good as well. Perfect? No, as i said, having big hands does not bring any sort of benefit to you. I still have yet to try the pro controller, so I can't comment on that.

A lot of people are liking handheld mode though, so that's nice to see

It feels pretty good in my hands. That's all I can say.

It has a fairly thin profile so it's not super comfy, but it's not really bad at all either.

I'd say Vita was a big more comfy, but Switch is actually a bit thinner than the OG Vita. It's comparable to a 3DS I guess, but it's a lot wider.

Very comfortable. I've played Zelda almost all the way from full to empty battery, and very little discomfort, compared to the GB/DS/3DS which usually cramped my hands within an hr of playing or so.

Very. I played all day one like that without issue. Then all day today docked.

I admittedly had to get used it a little at first. I played a lot on the gamepad and while it looks hideous it's actually a very comfortable controller.
The switch dug into my left hand a little at first and I found the placement of the right analog a litle ankward, but a few hours later and I got used to it and actually find it very comfortable.

I,ve got big hands and while I haven't tried the Switch yet assume I will have to get a pro controller when I do. I have fairly big hands being a largish 6' 2" height male.

To give you an indicator my favourite controller is the original xbox duke. I loved that controller but I think it was hated by many as too big.

It's my favourite method of using the system. No issues here.
