Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who agrees that digital sucks ass?

before i would have agreed that physical is and will always be better. but things have changed. it simply doesnt make sense anymore from any perspective to keep producing physical games.

First we have the industry standpoint. all other forms of media have gone digital. People download music, movies, books, documents, and read online articles rather than getting newspapers delivered anymore. Why should video games be held to a higher standard?

Then there is the convenience standpoint. Its simply more convenient to have all of your games ready to go from the moment you turn on your gaming console. having to get up and insert different game discs every time you want to play a different game can get tedious. and if its a portable console, you have to carry around a case to hold your other games.

and as for reselling - i really couldnt care less. i havent resold a game in years. by the time i even consider reselling, the game has already significantly dropped in value and not worth it anyways.

Physical is better across all platforms. I like to own my games without having to worry about servers going down if I need to redownload a game.

Physical will always be better than digital. Changing a game out takes like 30 seconds, digital convenience to me is meaningless.

My personal gripe with digital is that because I don't physically see that I own it I don't appreciate the game as much. It's like how I have tons of digital games on Steam and I couldn't give a crap about any of them. If I lost my Steam account I probably wouldn't feel that bad.

Also if a digital-only game goes away you can never try to purchase it again whereas you can always find a used copy of a game (though it might be more expensive as it may be rare, but at least it's there).

Owning and collecting physical copies of games is 100 times better than digital. Often it is cheaper, you can resell, collect, and it takes less space on your hard drive.

This aint $1.99 app store games these are $60 blockbusters we deserve a piece of plastic with the game! /rant

I recently, and finally, threw out a 32gb memory card. I have went through so much shit with it. Had to redownload it's contents fully, thrice. And reformat it a couple times. I did back it up on my PC, but wasn't sure if the issue was to certain corrupted files, or it was the card itself, becauces a few games specifically didn't like to work. On my last attempt at using it, it was just dead. I now have to spend about $110, dick around with Sony on the phone to explain my situation due to the # of times a customer can redownload a game, redownload everything, again, and possibly, still have try to figure out everything that was on it, just for the right to play what I've already paid for. Again. I will never buy another digital game again. Just dl the PS+ games. I have 3 Vitas, and still have around 200 games, but haven't touched any VIta in over a month. Fuck digital.

Digital is future of gaming.

It depends on the game, some digital games have ridiculous forms of DRM that really doesn't make it worth the trouble for me *cough* GTA IV.

I'm all about physical, im going to kit my entire gaming room out with a library of games. I've already collected over 200 physical. At least if i want to move on ill have a huge collection of games i can sell and make most my money back. Where with digital it feels wasted.

I'd rather buy a game I don't intend on reselling for €55 on the American store digitally then pay €75 at Gamestop.

Will games be €80 there next gen? Fuck that.

And when does that happen? I've gone on PSN before, and the games are almost always more expensive there than what I can find in the wild. Especially the PS2 on PS4 titles, those games are definite rip-offs.

I've never bought a game more expensive digital.  Launch Titles always cheaper and everything else bought on sale.

Mad max, AC unity and far cry primal for €30 last November.  If I bought them in gamestop then it would have cost over €100!

Driving right now but I'll elaborate later. I'll just say I respect your opinion and, at one point I agreed with you.

I went from not even claiming my free games because I already owned them physically, to paying money to buy digital versions of games I already own.

i'm 100% digital on PS4 and XBO, never had any problems.
100% physical on WiiU, and likely 100% physical on Switch too, as the upgrade options for internal storage are pretty shitty.

Thankfully neither the xbox or ps4 has had enough games ive wanted, to fill the stock drives yet.
