Except for the fact that 3DS & Wii U both had excess stock at launch and missed their fiscal year shipment goals and post-launch shipments were the lowest quarterly shipments they ever had.

Also where did the "Nintendo underships" argument come from? The only time that this seems to happen is when something sells better than expected like Wii, Amiibo, NES Classic & 3DS during holiday 2016.

Makes sense. This is probably why they reported launching a million less switches than the wii u.

Ya I think its less them trying to create artificial demand and more trying to make sure they dont have another situation where they are sitting on unsold stock for months.

Almost too quiet. Twitch has lost more than half the viewership of Zelda, already and people have gone back to Lol. Maybe they should have waited closer to the release of Scorpio or the pro and tried to stir up some noise and comptetition. There is almost no noise outside of hardcore gaming forumns and video games media. Am I the only one sesing this? I only know one person IRL that has gotten a switch and only for Zelda. Maybe there are numbers somewhere to show how well the launch is going? If so please share, I want this thing to succeed so badly, yet it seems Nintendo are light on making noise and I fear they have buggered themselves with copyrighting youtubers and non traditional media outlets by making them fear strikes and legal issues. Thoughts?

I'm too busy playing BOTW to even care about news and stuff :P..
i have 3 random friends i didn't even know where gaming that picked the switch up

I have 1 friend that never got the Wii U bought the Switch Day 1. And he have a PS4 and XB1

Pocky Lover Boy!

Of course it fells "quiet". Zelda has a attachment rate of near 100% – I know what the Switch buyers a doing

"Feeling" is not an accurate measure.

Could be over 100 percent. It may not be much to go on but the stores online that I have checked, Zelda (Switch) is selling more than the console. It's probably because the switch comes in two varients but It could also be scalpers.

That wouldn't surprise me. Before the ps3 launch I started buying blu-rays that were on sale, and before the ps4 launch I had already bought 4 ps4 games (Target had a buy 2 get 1 free deal). People are probably just buying for when they can find a system, as there's a psychological effect to seeing a $300 purchase and a $60 purchase over a single $360 purchase, even if they end up being the same at the end.

I know some people may just be buying the game in preparation for getting a Switch. I'm probably gonna do that.

Feel free to check out my stream on twitch

Funny thread..... its tooo early to know how good or bad the NS launch is.

They will sell out of whatever available stock they have, cause thats what launches do.....

I think we should wait till after this xmas, by then we will have a firm handle of exactly what kinda life the NS will have. By then I suspect it will also cost $250/$200. Won't be the forst time nintendo slashes the price on new hardware within 6-9 months of its launch. Besdies, it made no ense launching at a lower price when they knew all they were really offerring for now was just Zelda.

This launch is made for the nintenod die hards. The ones that will buy the thing just cause it has nintendo on the box. Come nov/dec..... we will know what everyone else thinks.

It has sold 80,000 units in the UK, doubling WiiU debut but with lower numbers than PS4 and XBox One. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-03-06-strong-start-for-nintendo-switch-in-the-uk

Considering it's launching in March, that it has sold out in some stores and that UK is one of Nintendo weakest markets I would say that it's not too shabby, although it's too soon to consider it a success or a failure.
