Just thought I'd mention that I got BOTW yesterday and I hadn't used my Wii U for extended periods since Xenoblade Chronicles X came out.

So anyway after playing for around an hour the Wii U just shut down and had a flashing red light on the front.

Suspecting overheating, I cleaned the dust out of the vents on the side and ports on the back and haven't had a problems since.

BOTW does autosave regularly but I had to redo a shrine after it powered back on.

The console is a few years old now and I suspect quite a few have been collecting dust, so check your vents before running BOTW. It seems to push the Wii U harder than any other game out there.

Good advice I'm sure. Seems hugely impressive for a wii u title.

Not so much visually, but there is more going on in the world at any one time than almost any other game I've played.

I'm still playing on my Wii U so I don't really have to worry about it :p
