Has this happened a lot previously with Nintendo games?

I know Xbox and PS exclusives often get attacked by rival fanbases via user scores, but it always seemed Nintendo was too irrelevant to those fanbases to trigger a similar reaction.

Like look at these:

http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/super-mario-3d-world

http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/mario-kart-8

http://www.metacritic.com/game/3ds/fire-emblem-awakening

http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/splatoon

All of these games' critical and user scores agree within a few tenths of a point. No one bothered to spam them with 0s. Is it just the 98 score that's whipping people into a frenzy?

You certainly said something very similar. Let's recap with some very lazy quoting.

You: "Zelda is shaping up to be the game of the decade at they can't stand it because it's not on their system."

Rolltide (in direct response to the "game of the decade" bit, bolded in his post): "I think that is pushing it a bit far I am a HUGE zelda fan and I am sure it is a great game but honestly Nintendo gets a lot of generosity with their reviews."

You: "It's not pushing it too far when you consider someone giving THIS game a... zero? There's no other excuse lol."

I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to conclude from this response other than Zelda receiving zeros on Metacritic somehow lends credence to it as the game of the decade.

You're suppose to conclude that when a game gets nose bleedingly high scores and praise, jealous fans of other consoles or trolls are going to give it zeros to knock the score down because they're insecure and have issues beyond the game in question being good.

But, again, that happens for any game that gets good reviews. Horizon, Resident Evil 7, Overwatch, Inside...just about every game that's gotten an 85 or above has a good collection of "troll reviews" as well. It's not exclusive to the "nose bleedingly" high score club.

Hell, there are "professional" reviewers that give ridiculously low scores just for page hits too.
