Great Plateau is great indeed. I already thought Horizon Zero Dawn did a great job with its tutorial area, then Zelda blows it out of the water 2 days later!

I'm trudging on with my intention not to use fast travel and apparently I'm wandering around in the Gerudo desert. I unlocked a tower, solved 2 more shrines and found a little inn tucked away in a canyon next to the second one. Slow going when a stray arrow can kill you in 1 shot, but better than rushing in and killing everything all the time as in the usual rpg. Onwards to the next shrine I spotted, further away again from where I'm supposed to go. Perhaps it's for the better this game is not in VR, nothing would be fun anymore after that.

Btw do you stumble onto dungeons while exploring or are they tied to the story? I've no clue where to look, just spotted towers and shrines so far with the scope.

If you are in the Gerudo Desert you'll probably see the dungeon (it is hard to miss), but not recognize it as a dungeon. If you follow the main story they explain what I mean by that pretty early on. Otherwise, I don't want to spoil it. Enjoy!

I'm as far as owning it.
Still need a Switch to play it.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

After 13-14 hours of play, only at second village at 3 discovered region.

I didn't see anything in the desert as I got lost in a 20 minute sandstorm! That's after getting sidetracked for nearly 3 hours on the way there. That Geruda region is huge. I finally ended up at the shrine I was aiming for after visiting a little village. However I should get some sleep now unfortunately. If you mean by the dungeon what I think you do, already spotted it with the scope earlier from far away but the reveal was still quite stunning. I guess I need to cook some speical food before attempting to get near it.

about to enter my first dungeon which is the zora one.

Well, after finally getting off the tutorial area, I've been just running around, meeting people, killing off enemy camps, finding towns, doing shrines and collecting all sorts of things. It's just been so exciting finding all sorts of things that invite to come closer in the distance. I found a weird dancing guy who wanted his maracas back, the shieka tribe (who feel quite Japanese and I love it), and met up with Zoras (who have awesome designs now and a lot of personality. I gotta say with shiekas, it felt very studio ghibli when I got to their village.

What usually starts off with "I'll play for an hour" ends up being several hours later. This game has just been so great.

I'm nowhere in it. Didn't buy.

Beat my first dungeon in Zora's Domain. The way to Zora's domain was pretty fun. Raining Lightning arrows and such. Got 7 hearts, and 2 stamina upgrades. After that, I tried to find the master sword and went to lost woods. After that I randomly walked around looking for towers and shrines. Went up on a castle on a hill surrounded by flying guardians. Then decided to walk to death mountain. The temperature was near the freezing point and after doing one more step, by bow and HUD caught on fire. o.O

This game is freaking huge. I can't believe how big it is. Still havn't visited the west and south of hyrule.

One more shrine to go on the great plateau, was in desperate need of a drink after playing 4 hours straight. The game is amazing, just a shame it's so quiet, I miss the music. Also the frame rate dips on the big screen can get in the way, for example when hunting boar in the spirit forest. Plus my hands must suck cause changing arrows with the bow drawn hurts with the joy-con controllers, not comfortable. Yet on the positive side, I haven't had any more joy-con disconnects after putting the console within 2 meters of me. It's sitting on the side now with a longer hdmi cable. Nintendo and their wireless issues....

I was going to divide my time between Horizon and Zelda, but not gonna happen tonight. Still got that rock monster to try again. I got a bit sidetracked with cooking, ended up with 3 pages of prepared food. Kinda pointless to have meals that restore 7 hearts while I still only have 3 lol.

I don't mind the lack of music by walking around in the field. I prefer the sound of rain on the ground and wind blowing through the grass.

I'm about 15 hours in.

I do have a question though, what are the stone materials use for? like Amber, Opal, Ruby, etc. haven't found any use for them other than selling.
