According to Digital Foundry, water along with interactive vegetation, were most likely compromises that needed to be made in order to sustain a solid 30fps.

The irony is... Far Cry on the original Xbox had interactive water and vegetation.

With all of the good looking games that come out these days, it's hard for me to be really impressed by graphics lately. But playing Horizon there have have been many times where I'm just floored and I end up pausing the game and jumping into photo mode. I'm playing on a PS4 Pro with a 4K HDR TV. The HDR really takes the graphics to the next level. It's very immersive. I also like how they included a toggle where you could turn HDR off/on. I play with that sometimes just to see the difference and it's like night and day.

Definitely agree, the game is just fucking amazing. The image quality and the amount of foliage is crazy. The only thing that's bad is the water but even then, crazy IQ.

I definitely think it's bad, like ugly bad, not pleasant to look at. I think PS3 games have better water than horizon. 

Nearly every good looking pc game on a decent pc beats the shit out of horizon. But for PS4 only Horizon is going to hold onto this crown for quite some time. I think Uncharted lost legacy is going to.look better than Horizon and God of War will probably also beat it.

The water doesn't look clear enough and it needs to move a little faster, since it does move very naturally other than that I agree it looks good. But I think the PS4 doesn't have the power to improve the game in any way.

What SC achieves on PC is something that's not even an afterthought on consoles (hence the PC exclusivity). In saying that, im not saying console games dont look good. However what SC does good blows anything we have ever seen on a closed system. Eg attention to detail etc. 

Iv seen images which look like they have been taken from a high budget CG scifi movie. No joke. No game has made me think that apart from SC.

Nothing lacks in SC. Everything looks good. Including the water.

Do they really? Most PC games usually just have better IQ than their console counterparts. Horizon has that, but with more foliage than any game I've seen. Horizon also has really top notch shadows, I was really surprised by that.

The irony is. If Horizon was on PC it would look even better.

Quake Champions and Unreal Tournament look set to bring back Arena FPS PC gaming in a big way. And Unreal Tournament is looking pretty damn crisp.
