Forums - Gaming Discussion - This has easily been the best 30 day for the current console Gen

I felt like this gen has had alot of misses or underwelming games or even very good games that were a mess at launch.

The past month we have gotten the incredible Nioh, a game that flew well below the radar, Souls+Diablo+Ninjas and Samuri? Is there possibly a better mx?

There is Horizon, an extremely abitious new IP, we all knew it was going to be pretty, but I don't think many expected it to be as good as it was. It is GG 1st go at open world, and their last offering was mediocre at best.

And now we have Zelda BOTW. It has been since SMG that Nintendo has delievered at this level. I thought the game was going to be good, even the oft maligned Skyward Sword was still a great game. Zelda has its own standard, and BOTW is reaching the pinnacle of this standard. I am finally GLAD to have my WiiU, this is the game I have been waiting for since I bought one at launch, especially since some of the early reports on the Switch is that it might be best to wait for the 1st hardware revision.

2017 is off to an amazing start. Lets hope Mass Effect: Andromida delievers too.

Edit- I will add another big point. These games not only have extreme quality, but they bring Variety. All of them offers a vastly different experiance.

You left out Nier Automata :)

;P

BOTW is on the WiiU and was developed for the WiiU, then delayed so it could be ported to bolster the launch of the Switch.

I still consider Twilight Princess a GC game.

Not familiar with it.

I platinumed Nioh, but still was not tired of it. Started Horizon and now I have Zelda.... I doubt I will be done with these 2 by the time Mass Effect releases.

I think it's pretty hard to stop at 30 days. Persona 5 is releasing in a month, and great games like Resident Evil or Gravity Rush released several weeks ago. It's more like the best beginning of a year ^^.

And yeah, you should add Nier Automata to the list.

If you go with February 7-March 7, that could actually be true.

Nioh
Breath of the Wild
Horizon
Nier
Torment: Tides of Numenera
Halo Wars 2

I've played none of them, but they all seem to be beloved.

yes, that is my point. I can't recall maybe since Gamecube/PS2 era a 30 day period with no much extremely quality in a mix of AAA releases (Halo, Horizon, Zelda) and sleepers (Nioh, Nier).

edit- and the biggest point is the sheer variety. This is not getting Battlefied/Halo/CoD in the same month, these games all bring something vastly different to the table.

Not for Xbox

Poor Ghost Recon..lol.

It's DOA. Mediocre at best, surrounded by so many great games and no PVP at launch spells disaster. I predict a critical and commercial failure. It's too bad, because technically and graphically it's impressive and the devs created an amazing world.
