Hm, good analysis but a little off, I'm simply lazy so I join whatever thread is in the right bar and throw in my $0.02, with Switch being the talk of the town on account of it being the newest console then it gets disproportionate attention and its glaring issues most fresh in my mind.
The reality is much simpler, I find the current crop of console and games lacking and have a strong disinterest for the marquee titles everyone gets their panties in a twist over.

Nioh? So far off my radar that it may as well not exist
Nier automata? Nice ass and that's about it
i'd wax lyrical about a recent Xbox game too but the things so redundant I don't recall the latest exclusive it had.
PC? Great being on the steam summer sales so I can fill my boots with games for a few bucks a piece that I'll scroll past for the rest of my life when looking through my games list for something to play.
Vgc is convenient background noise, is what it boils down to.
