Honestly, this sounds huge

Not a fan of games as a service, to be honest. Having your collection behind a paywall doesn't sound desirable to me.

But there is still an option for people that want to own the games, buy the games.

This is merely an option and a damn good one. Especially if you recently bought a X1 and want access to many games. I imagine consoles will be bundled with access to this service for a short period of time.

Sure, not saying the other option isn't there. I am just highlighting I personally don't find this enticing, and pushing for a games as service future, while logical considering the rest of the entertainment sector does it too, is not something I wish for either.

Wow that's pretty cool :)

This is a big step in the future of gaming.

Wow. I must say, as a person does not like these services and thought PS Now was atrocious, this is looking really good. I'm actually stunned

But is it a positive step?

If games as a service becomes popular than game stores will disappear even faster. The value of second hand games will erode, both for stores and people selling on ebay, including re-selling digital games through loopholes. Which in the end means less money in circulation to buy new games day 1, which is what the AAA industry relies on.

Plus you play $120 a year for someone else to decide the menu for you. Are the things off the menu going to go up in price to compensate? What are the incentives for developers to be on the menu. They can't expect much of that $120 a year divided by 100 games.

Its a positive first step imo.

As for game store i dont buy much games physically so it doesnt really affect me but like you said i hope being able to actually buy and own games remain. Being able to purchase your own games but still joining a game service seems good.

Well it doesnt have to be $120 a year. When you see a few games you want to play added you could buy months here and there.

I would think this marks the end of EA Access..... or maybe just a price cut.

No thanks Microsoft.

I never though I'd say this, but nice, nice move MS. It is a deal I'd gladly take if I had a One.
