Purposefully letting something go to shit to have more to blame the other party for. Oh, how lovely.

"But we have to do what's right, because Obamacare is a failed disaster."

We have more beds, lower infant mortality rate, lower obesity, more Physicians per capita and higher quality care at a lower cost.

And the annoying part is... Trump is not going to make it any better.

Oh... I can't imagine it gets any worse under Trump.

Frankly, if Trump simply gave us more healthcare options and perhaps allowed us to pay less for living a healthier lifestyle, that would be a huge improvement. People abusing their bodies should pay more.

It can get worse. :P You aren't on the same level as Africa yet.

What is the USA's aversion to universal healthcare though? It's proven to work and be cheap and effective.
Australia we have a hybrid system which serves us very well and keeps costs low... And the advantage of it is that even someone who is homeless can walk into a Hostpital and get the help they need without having to worry about money or health insurance.

No, I mean healthcare in the US won't get worse. I'm fairly confident the Trump administration will make some tweaks that improve it and maybe take accountability into consdieration.

Technically we have a hybrid system as well. Many in the country get health via the government, so people can get healthcare paying little or nothing. So the homeless, the lazy, and people that breed into poverty are pretty much taken care of.

Keeping healthcare cost low probably has to do with regulations. We generally don't know how much our doctor visits cost, we just expect insurance providers to deal with it regardless of the amount. If we actually paid out of pocket there would be competition and prices would be lower.

For example, vet bills are significantly cheaper than caring for people because people pay out of pocket for that.

This is why despite any issues it may have I'm glad we have the NHS in the UK even though the Tories are desperate to try every little trick to try and privatize it. Health care is obviously complicated anyone with half a brain knows that.

Oh ! That's so good to live in France...

I think part of the problem is the healthcare system in the US it isnt all state run, alot of it is private companies.

Greed is why its "ineffecient" and cant compete. Most of those countries where things are better for less money spent, its mostly state run.

I'm pretty sure that politico is fake news because they always say that Trump lies.

That's easy really. US citizens get taught from early childhood that paying taxes is the worst thing a human being could do. In US paying taxes is seen as taking something away because gross and net prices are always handled separately. If they'd do it like every other civilized country and just handle all prices as net, nobody would even know or care about taxes.

But as it is this is a systemic social and not an economic problem that in my opinion can never be fixed because fixing it would require people to think differently from what they have been taught all their life. It's just not possible without force. And it won't be fixed in the next 4 years anyway with all houses controlled by Republicans who still can only understand how to pander to their core demographic and know nothing about social economics.

I mean for god's sake, the US is probably the only country in the world where the word "socialism" is used in an inherently bad context.
