I know, which is why i said it was debatable rather than that you're wrong. We can't be certain of anything, but it's not unreasonable to assume the PS5 could release in the next 5~ years (i'm personally expecting to see it late 2019/early 2020). Even if there is a Switch Pro, we can still compare the original Switch to the PS5, just as many currently compare the standard Switch to the standard PS4 and X1. Your claim related to the current Switch vs its competitors, which could include a PS5 and more. A Switch Pro is a separate variable to that statement.

And that why we can comparing it with only availible consoles at time, we cant know if we will compare Switch with PS5 or how much strong PS5 will be, so we cant say that "Switch is the weakest major home console ever compared to its competitors" when clear fact is that is Wii (at least for now).

I agree, but your original statement wasn't prefaced, you just stated the alternative. That's not to say you meant it as a fact, but in the absence of additional context i can only reply to what's there :)

what's up with these apple vs pineapple comparisons, it's stupid.

Anyways, I would bet this new mode would be great for developers targeting the lowest clock but aren't getting satisfactory performance. Rather than doing more tweaking and optimizing, just up the mode and problem solved (ofcouse it's probably not that easy, but you get the point).

So no real surprises then as far as specs go; we're looking at a Maxwell Tegra X1 with a quad core ARM Cortex A57 CPU, and 4GB of RAM with 25GB/s of bandwidth, as expected.

Can someone who's good with tech explain how well the CPU stacks up to Wii U/PS4/Xbone's? (Bearing in mind that one of the four cores is apparently reserved for the OS)

Even as someone who welcomes it in games like Zelda, i think it's a bit silly to say a 30fps game (one that reportedly drops on occasions) runs "perfectly" :p

Runs perfectly within its targeted framerate in portable mode, a 25% boost is not gonna upgrade that to 60fps so there is no need to use it for Zelda.

Do we have any proper frame-rate analysis videos of its portable mode yet? Regardless, the portable mode does seem to perform well in the OT's video. It'd be cool if they can allow people to choose between graphics modes even when docked, so you could have the docked 900p but with portable graphics settings and stability. I don't imagine BotWs performance issues are significant, Nintendo rarely miss their performance targets by much (if at all in many cases), but the option would be a nice touch.

The stuttering in the video doesn't look good, but when I get the Switch, I would probably mainly use the handheld mode so it shouldn't be too much of a problem

The Switch's main competition is going to be the PS5 and, possibly, XB2.  Sure, we probably have 2 more years til the PS5 launches, but that doesn't change who its competition is going to be.  Just like the Wii U launching 1 year ahead of the PS4/XBO didn't change who its main competition was.  So, if the PS5 uses a slightly weaker version of a Vega 10, which I think is what they will do, we are looking at 11-12 Tflops vs .4 Tflops.  That's much larger than the gap between the Wii and the PS3 and the Wii U and the PS4.

The only way the Switch is not going to mainly be competing with the PS5 is if sales are so bad that Nintendo pulls the plug and tries the HW biz out one more time.  I don't think you want to hope for that, though.  Cause if that happens and then their next console flops, as well, Nintendo is going 3rd party.  At least sticking with mobile gaming, which would be a freaking sad place for them to end up.

I've not read that deeply into the A57, but my understanding is that a similarly clocked A57 core will generally perform better than a Jaguar core, but that the A57's overall advantage doesn't extend as far as 1GHz vs 1.6Ghz (the latter being the standard PS4, which has the lowest clocked Jaguar). I'm not sure how it compares to the WiiU's Espresso.

I think we're beyond the point of being able to point at one set of systems and saying "this is the Switch's main competition". Linearly the PS5, Switch, and X2 are part of the same generation, but in actuality the Switch will probably spend about half it's life directly fighting the PS4 and X1. Even after the PS5 (and maybe X2) releases it'll likley still get some pressure from the PS4 and X1, as they'll both be very cheap.

I doubt it, Japanese only care about portable game, so it can't be a flop at least in japan. I mainly play Japanese games so it will be a big deal for me

And you should remember Almost everyday in one month near launch I've read two or three threáds on Reddit confirmed new indie title for the Switch. It attracts so many developers making games for it, the one a game device will need

Dont forget about those 3rd party partners company  still hasnt announce anything yet, this year's E3 gonna be a huge year for Nintendo and Switch

Switch is whatever console you choose to use it as. I will almost never use it as a portable, thus for me it is a home console. So if someone is going to use it primarily as a home console then there complaint of it being underpowered is valid, and "It's a handheld" is not a valid rebuttal.

It's a portable device, you not using it for that reason doesn't change any of the facts. The PS4 is also incredibly underpowered compared to PCs.

I never used my 3DS outside my house, that doesn't make it a home console all of a sudden though. It's like saying the PS3 isn't a blu-ray player because you don't use that feature.

Powerful  pc's cost 1500-2000  euros  a ps4 cost 300-250....a Ferrari  is also always  faster then a standard  car. And still ps4 is way stronger then switch.

And still nothing  on pc looka more amazing  then uncharted 4 or horizon  zero dawn.
